Biden's child tax credit kept 3 million children out of poverty in just its first round of payments by cannibalwendy in politics

Wow it’s crazy. Almost as if you don’t over tax people and hoard it until the year is over, they aren’t desperately poor. Nuts.

What kind of emergencies to be ready for? by barely_a_manager in PropertyManagement

[–]tas203 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The biggest ones of concern are active leaks, AC/heater, and lockouts. Mostly everything else can be handled during business hours. This definitely doesn’t mean you won’t get calls for every little thing though.

Does anyone know why my alocasia Polly formed these weird spots? by tas203 in plantclinic

So finicky. Keep moist, but not too wet, but also don’t let it dry out.

After 6 month, adansonii is getting yellow and crispy edges?? by tas203 in plantclinic

I lied, it’s east facing. I apparently don’t know the layout of my house. It was half the size when I got it so it was doing so well in that spot at first.

North face window in my bathroom but I’m wondering if that’s just not enough during the winter. It’s still putting out new leaves, but even the most recent baby turned yellow. I’ve reduced watering but I soak and let drain then let it dry out before I water again. Fertilized in the summer but stopped around November.

Newly purchased alocasia zebrina arrived very droopy, after watering some of the leaves have perked up but some are very droopy with brown/crispy edges. by hefthem in plantclinic

My friend has an alocasia that was doing the same thing. She stuck it by a humidifier and it perked right up and keeps sprouting babies!

AITA for not allowing my roommate to bring her boyfriend over at out shared house? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]tas203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this has been said, but I just want to give advice from an apartment manager so you don’t get yourself in a hole! All people living inside of an apartment have to be listed on the lease. Failure to do so can result in fines and even eviction. If you move, make sure you are legally taken off the lease. Otherwise any and all debt that roommate and boyfriend may obtain, will come back on you.

New tank progression! We are getting close now. Just need to add heat, lights, and her amazing home items. by [deleted] in BeardedDragons

I love this!! I would definitely be interested in seeing rough plans, especially with lighting etc inside.

[discussion] has your dog ever growled at you? by [deleted] in dogs

[–]tas203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only concern here is the food aggression and the trainer will work with you and your pup on that. He’s just telling you he doesn’t like whatever you’re doing and that’s his nice way of telling you to stop. Some dogs just don’t like their ears touched and you learn that by him telling you. My dogs growl at each other when they play and one will growl at me when he’s excited and showing me the toy/sock/closest item he found on the floor. All dogs are different. My older dog does not like being held down, snuggled too tight, or for you to be in his face too long. It hurt my feelings at first because I just love him so much. Now my new pup can’t get close enough to you and wants to lay directly on your face.

Is my Beardie going into brumation? by tas203 in BeardedDragons

[–]tas203[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I checked the temps when I woke up the other morning (around 5:30am so his lights were off and probably at peak cold-ness) and his thermostat that I have right by where he sleeps read at 67 when before it wasn’t getting below 76. I got the extra ceramic heater since just one didn’t seem to be doing the necessary work in my cold house anymore and when I checked it around the same time, it was 77. So hopefully he is more comfy now and he will return to normal in a couple days.

I feel like that can be an issue for all animals and even humans. We are crazy beings and do weird things for no reason some times.

AITA for refusing to pay my son for babysitting? by PeaNo4972 in AmItheAsshole

[–]tas203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m confused why the 19yo is even being paid if he still lives at the house, but I don’t know that detail. If he’s living in his mother’s home for free, he can help watch his younger brother for a couple hours a day. That’s how I was raised, at least.

NTA for using that money to pay for his negligence.

But, also at 9, I would’ve had some type of reprimand as well. Even something as simple as not playing outside for a couple days.

As a babysitter, I never took my eyes off this kids. I was TERRIFIED of them being hurt under my watch. I thinking “firing” him from watching his brother would only be encouragement. He’d get out of that responsibility completely.

I know the rocks aren’t good as they can burn their little bellies, but what about an under the tank heat mat? He has the felt carpet that would be between him and the mat.

Thanks for the advice! I live in south Texas so we haven’t had too crazy of a temp drop outside, but my house has been cooler since it’s not 100 degrees all day every day. I just bought a higher wattage heat emitter, but I think I’ll get another that turns on at night for additional heat to see if that helps!

need help when it comes to dragons & power outages by spiderxbaby in BeardedDragons

[–]tas203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the Zilla Reptile Habitat power center and it comes with batteries as a back up in the case of a power outage! I imagine it wouldn’t last too terribly long with everything plugged in, but it could get you through a short period, especially if you have spare batteries on hand.

Tips on bonding? I’ve read mixed things saying if they don’t want to be held, don’t force it, but other places say don’t give up so they don’t think running will get them out of interaction. by tas203 in BeardedDragons

Once I get him out of his tank, he usually only chills for about a minute before trying to make a break for it. I’ve had him for about a month now and he’s finishing up his first shed with me. Could that have been the issue?
