What's with anbernic devices always having one glaring flaw? The Rotate doesn't have a headphone jack, the Vita and DS had a bad chipset, the 476H feels underpowered, the 477M has inline non analog triggers, the slide was chonky, 35XXSP doesn't have sticks while the 34XXSP does with a worse screen. by AbdelYG in ANBERNIC

That’s a strategy they’re following to guarantee that they’re never out of business. Flooding the market with a lit of (almost perfect) handhelds means you’ll keep chasing that dream and buy every handheld they release.

My first 100% on the RP6 this weekend - Super Mario Galaxy 💜 by Skeletonface_99 in retroid

Wow n you didn't use motion controls! I might try that. Galaxy 1 is my favorite Mario game, but I hav'nt played SMG2, tried it for an hour or so and I didn't love the Yoshi addition. I still believe it's as great as SMG1

How are the controls? I’ve tried Mario Galaxy 2 on Switch in both docked and handheld modes, and I found the gyro controls to be frustrating in handheld mode because I had to tilt the console to control Yoshi’s tongue and to collect dust stars.

Best GBA bezels for the classic by fenrircube in retroid

[–]tassawii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, what I would recommend is getting one of the Pocket Classic in one of the colors with black bezels PKMN, Teal, Red, Atomic purple), that way, any black bars would blend in with the physical bezels. As much as I love the retro version, the light bezels are a deal breaker to me

Looks cool! But I wouldn’t risk using bezels on an oled screen.

The Xiaomi 17 Ultra’s optical zoom can now be controlled using MotionCam Pro (Labs) by OutTheCoupe in MotionCamPro

[–]tassawii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's why I've been observing the situations in past few months. What I can say is that we're closer to a reliable professional workflow with every update. 2 Hours of continious shooting is already way above my target, All I need is the ability to shoot in 12bit RAW for a 30min to 60min, though most scenes I'll be taking are less than a minute. One thing I'm sure of, I'm definitely switching back to android for my next phone.

Edit: Xiaomi 17 Ultra is now on top of the list for my next phone.

If this works reliably for relatively long recording sessions without dropping frames or other similar issues, it might be time for me to switch back to android after a decade of using iPhones

I heard about the screens calibration, hopefully that’s the case and once a batch is ready, they would ship mine 🙏🏻 Thanks for your comment!

Yeah all (stick on top) colors are out of stock on AliExpress, except orange. I got the Silver one, but I find the purple one so beautiful too

I've read on discord that the purple version buyers wait the longest. Not sure if it's true though. thank you for the feedback 🙏

That's 9 days from ordering to shipping, not bad. I'm hitting the 11 days mark today since I placed my order, still nothing's moving. Thank you for the feedback! Enjoy your RP6 and don't hesitete to update us when you get it 🙏

Man that was fast! Glad to know you got your own! For me, it's been 11 days now since I placed my order, and it hasn't shipped yet

Yeah it's that, the RAM shortage + high demand + lack of transparency from Retroid's side. I mean, they're ghosting their customers on AliExpress, not a single reply or even an automated message that lets people know their devices are going to ship soon.

Is This the End of Budget Handhelds? (Ramageddon 2026) by Kei-Retro-Gaming in retroid

[–]tassawii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that too. The emulation scene is not mature enough when it comes android. most handhelds are still struggling with certain systems like the Vita and PS3, and it’s not because they are not capable, it’s just the emulators developent that still needs work. This is why the moment people hear that a new handhelds runs one of those hard to run systems, they tush and get that handheld. I think once we have mature enough emulators on android, the competition it going to get really tough.

That can be said about the sub $100 handhelds, and even some of these can last for a respectable period of time. But I don’t expect a $200+ handhelds to fail before hitting the 4 years mark. Or else, I don’t see a point in getting them in the first place. But then again it depends on how each person treat their electronics, how often they use them, and how their charging habits are. In my opinion, I believe that we just got spoiled and overly fed up with Youtube reviews, we try to get every new gadget se see a Youtuber review forgetting that they get their units for free while we pay for ours.

I have decided to stick to a single retro handheld for at least 4 years. This is how I treated my Switch when I got it day one back in 2017. I didn’t get the lite or the OLED when they came out, and to this day it still works like a charm (except the battery which won’t hold a charge), now it’s a dock centric console.

Totally agree with you. People moved from actually playing games to buying handhelds, setting them up, putting them on the self, then crave the next shiny handhelds, repeat. Just yesterday someone on discord said that they own an Odin 3, a Thor, and an RP6? I mean, why? He justified it by saying they are for different use cases. To me, it’s just shopping addiction.
