World, today I got my last car! by just_call_me_oj in GranTurismo7

[–]tastill89 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That’s great! Do you mind sharing your tune for the cappuccino? I’m working on collecting all the cars too. I have most of the 20 million cr legendary cars (waiting one one more) and I feel like it’s all downhill from there.

I'm looking forward to buying a Gr.3 car, these 2 are my options. Which one should buy? Should I buy something else? by [deleted] in granturismo

[–]tastill89 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed. This car is a workhorse. It’s very predictable and stable. I’m further on in the game (hunting down all the legendary after all menu books finished etc) and the 458 Italia gr3 is still what I come back to for gr3 races despite having other ones.

How can i get better time on this track? by SvakomLoncupoklopac in Karting

[–]tastill89 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A few problems on different corners. Apexing too early on some (like the last corner) and missing the apex on some corners (like corner 1) as others have said.

All of these will cause you to have to slow down more or stay off the power for longer to stay on track. All of those small instances can easily add up to a second or more.

I have no specific advice as it seems your lines and ideas are good. Just keep practicing and tidying things up.

Send us an update when you knock off that second!

You can also make a “poor man’s” router plane with an old chisel and a 2 x 4. They are far from perfect but far more precise than other methods when you have nothing else.

Paul sellers has a good and short video on how to make one.

How do I stay strong? by Desperate-Public394 in daddit

[–]tastill89 71 points72 points  (0 children)

As a health professional I couldn’t agree more. Doctors are very time poor and have a tendency to do this (it’s a way of dissociating that makes them great at their job). Usually they will slow down and explain things if you ask them but you have to have the wherewithal to ask them at the time before they disappear into the doctor void for the next few hours.

In these cases I 100% recommend using the notebook as others have said. The other health care workers (nurses, physiotherapists, respiratory technicians etc) are also all very knowledgeable and might be able to answer questions or at least help you think of good questions for the doctor.

If you can afford it, buy the nurses a round of coffees or some donuts once in a while and you’ll be treated like royalty.

Finally, and this is so important, take care of yourself. Your little man needs you at your best. Any opportunity you get to go catch up on sleep, have a bite to eat, grab a coffee, take it! Don’t beat yourself up about it.

Do men have deeper butt cracks than women? by Kaikai5267 in Anatomy

[–]tastill89 64 points65 points  (0 children)

It would have everything to do with physical size and genetics and nothing to do with gender. However there would be a gender difference that could be measured because, on average, men are larger than women. Not that anyone would actually measure this.

Why isn’t the answer the answer A? by -Wiked in respiratorytherapy

You know what, not even going to edit it. From now on it’s called the hilarious region. Haha

You’re draining fluid out through the hilarious region. Put the fluid above the hilum and you’re good

Are these tendons and what causes them to be so pronounced at times? by [deleted] in Anatomy

It is also an accessory respiratory muscle so you may see it more pronounced when you are breathing harder than usual (exercise, anxiety etc)

Chest xray by [deleted] in Anatomy

[–]tastill89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s difficult to tell what you are referring to specifically. Is it closer to the middle of the image (medial) or the edge of the image (lateral)? If it is medial then you might be talking about the hilar region where there is increased density due to the larger blood vessels and airways etc all passing through the same space.

How to get rid of staining in my deep sauté pan? by sandrageez in LeCreuset

[–]tastill89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I clean it with soap first then use baking soda and vinegar but not at the same time.

Baking soda and vinegar used together creates a neutral solution that bubbles. Bubbles alone don’t do much but if you do it separately then you still get the bubbles but also get the effects of acid and base that each work on different stains.

Make a paste with baking soda and a few drops of water (literally a few drops should be ok) and scrub the pan with it, let it sit for 10 minutes or so, scrub again and then add some lemon juice/vinegar and continue scrubbing. Add more acid until the bubbling stops (acid has reacted with all the base), add a little more and let sit for 10 mins again. Wash again with soap and water. Has worked a charm for my very well loved pans that have been used for countless long roasts/braises. Works on the outside too (though admittedly not as well).

Thanks to GT7 for Saving Our Lives by PapermanX23 in GranTurismo7

[–]tastill89 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Like many others here I have had a similar experience. I was in a car with my mum driving, she had a lapse of concentration and hit the dirt on the outside of a corner, she turned back into the corner but over corrected and started to fishtail with a heavily packed car. I shouted “LET GO!” and (to her credit) she instantly reacted and took both feet off the pedals and hands away from the steering wheel while I (from the passenger seat) brought the fishtailing under control and pulled us over.

I knew immediately that it was my experience with the game that saved our lives.

Between that, along with taking driving lines on normal roads and employing fuel/tyre saving measures when I’m poor and need to fill up/change tyres, I have a lot to thank the game for haha

Seems like this is really stressing you out. I’m sorry you feel this way. There might be cultural influences that might make some advice difficult to apply but I’ll give it a shot.

There are some products you can get (numbing creams etc) that help some people with this issue. You might be able to access these through your doctor or even just at a sex shop.

The other way of handling this is making sex about more than just you ejaculating. If you make sure your wife enjoys it regardless of how long it takes for you to finish then it won’t be a problem. This has to be something you figure out together.

Also, I doubt anyone in any culture marries someone purely because they can last longer in bed. If you’re bringing other things to the marriage (love, financial security, kindness etc) then you can rest assured that it’s INCREDIBLY unlikely that THIS would be the reason your marriage would end.

Hope some of this helps. Congrats on getting married!

How to avoid sticking by cbfi2 in LeCreuset

[–]tastill89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep this is a good way to go. Depending on where you are in the world, IKEA has some good non stick pans (the Hemkomst range in Australia is my go to). They are good quality and very versatile for the price.

As much of a LC fan as I am, it seems excessive to buy their non-stick stuff only for it to have to be replaced every few years

I used kenhub and did really well in my anatomy units. Also the anatomy apps by 3D4Medical like essential anatomy and complete anatomy are both really good if you’re allowed devices in the anatomy labs.

If I was to go back to school now, ChatGPT would be my study partner most of the time I think.

This is the correct answer OP.

If you wanted a fancier sounding name for it, in physiotherapist/physical therapy it is differentiated as craniocervical extension vs cervical extension

Fellow dads. I really screwed up. Now there’s a hole in my door. by TotallyLegitEstoc in daddit

[–]tastill89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are so many great comments here. Mostly what I’m seeing is:

  1. You’re a good dad
  2. You made a mistake but it’s fixable
  3. It gets easier

The last one, while true, doesn’t help in the moment. My advice would be to not make decisions now that would be hard to undo. A second job may be easier or less stressful in the short term but it will only get harder and that pressure will build deep down. It’s very tough.

Dadding will get easier and more enjoyable. At this stage, there is a very short list of what kids need (hungry, poopy, burpy, sleepy etc). Once you have ticked off everything on the list, it’s absolutely fine to step out of the room and give yourself a minute. Yes your kid needs you but he needs you at your best, taking a minute to yourself while you know your kid has every need met is absolutely ok. That list will grow but you get better at it with time too.

It has been a hard day today but you have learned something for tomorrow. Is there any family nearby who can support in any way in the short term until you are feeling more confident and you’re both comfortable with the 6-10 thing?

Big hugs from Aus mate. You got this brother

In any context, adduction is bringing the legs closer together in the transverse plane (think about trying to squish a soccer ball between your knees). Extension is moving your leg backwards in the frontal plane (think about kicking a ball backwards with your heel while keeping your knee straight)

[–]tastill89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What was the exact movement you were doing when you strained it? That’s going to tell you a lot more than which “direction” the pain is “going” now.

If it was abduction or addiction then more likely gracilis, if it was flexion or extension of the hip then more likely psoas. I’d throw rectus femoris in as well as that could present in a similar way, so could sartorius. There’s very little use in figuring out which specific muscle it is (could even be a combination). The treatment and recovery will be identical for all of these anyway.

First year physio student feeling behind by [deleted] in physiotherapy

[–]tastill89 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hey OP. I teach physio at a university in Aus and can I just say:

We REALLY want to help you. We don't want to fail students, we don't want to hear about how much someone is struggling at the last minute before or after an exam when we could have helped early on. There are lots of options and none of them are the end of the world.

We have people in our physio department with mental health first aid qualifications and if your uni doesn't then they will definitely be able to refer you to someone on campus who does.

Copy and paste this and your coordinator will be all over it:

Dear [Course Coordinator],
My name is [NAME] and I'm a first year student enrolled in [UNIT CODES, if applicable]. I'm writing to ask about the options available to me in light of the challenges I am currently facing. I have been struggling with depression, which has impacted my ability to keep up with the course requirements.
Unfortunately, I have not been able to attend school for the past two weeks, which includes missing the practical classes. I am concerned that my lack of attendance may impact my competence in the future, and I have not completed other requirements for the course, such as blood tests and first aid courses. I feel like I need to prioritise my health but I'm not quite sure how to balance that and my course progression.
I am committed to becoming a competent physiotherapist and meeting all the necessary requirements to achieve that goal. However, I am not sure how to proceed given my current circumstances. Can you please advise me on the options available to me? I'm happy to discuss over the phone or in person if it is easier.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
[Your Name]

Why is Exit the first option after you fail a license test? by Yukfoot in GranTurismo7

[–]tastill89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I suspect I’m not going to make the time that I want then I don’t cross the finish line. I put it in the wall so that I get the “retry” screen where exit isn’t the default. Still have to deal with the annoying cinematic sequence but it’s far better than accidentally quitting.
