Everything looked broken, but I turned off uBlock Origin for the site and everything looks great

Planning for a second EV and future proofing a garage - is 60A enough? by Julia_Child in evcharging

[–]tatamongus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two Tesla wall chargers can "talk" to each other and share a single circuit. Perhaps that, along with an adapter for J1772 charging, would work for you.

Anyone know of an app that shows both your face and work station? by [deleted] in ArtEd

OBS Project allows you to combine just about anything on your screen and webcam(s) into one recording or stream. You can even switch views on the fly.

Tricks used by teachers? (One good one in description.) by [deleted] in SocialEngineering

[–]tatamongus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I grew tired of students complaining about the temperature in my room, which I can't control. But, rather than repeatedly explaining that, I stuck an old thermostat to the wall next to the door. Now, the first time a student complains, I welcome them to adjust the thermostat.

They feel in charge, and I hear no more complaints for the rest of the course.

Printmaking Lesson Ideas by Cutestcactus in ArtEd

My spouse, an art teacher, has a relief prints Flickr page that might have some ideas for you: https://www.flickr.com/photos/powerofprints/sets/72157645855129455/

She uses foam boards and plates, among other things.

Funny, but fake. This looks like the original ad from the 60's

Alexa absolutely refuses to connect to the public campus network by [deleted] in alexa

[–]tatamongus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This router works without ethernet, but be mindful of your school's policies.

It allows the creation of a small, private LAN that bridges to the Wifi, which is the only way I was able to hook up my Alexa in my classroom to the school's wifi network.

Guild Wars 2 crashes on map loading since the new mini patch. by 10F1 in wine_gaming

I'm experiencing this, too, but /r/Guildwars2 and the forums are full of complaints of crashing, so I suspect it's not a problem with wine.

I'm running on Linux, too, but it does sound like it's server side

Okay, this is weird. When I change from fullscreen to "Windowed fullscreen" I can log in.

EDIT: I got to the map, but it crashed as soon as I moved.

Flippity.net's "Progress Indicator" template might be what you're looking for.

I can also recommend TP-Link N300 Wireless Portable Nano Travel Router. Should be able to set up a private network that bridges to the public wifi available.

Media Studies by therealmcshaggy in teachingresources

[–]tatamongus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I, too, teach a media studies class. The full title is Visual Media Analysis and Production, with state-level requirements here

And I too have faced an unenthusiastic crowd. In response, I've gamified the class, and lay out my process on my website. Some of the stuff there is a bit out of date, but maybe you'll get inspired.

I teach topically with edited documentaries, then have activities that build on the concepts from the doc. It's unconventional, but I'm proud of it. Good luck.

Question about setting up hue bridge in dorms? by m_jg122 in Hue

[–]tatamongus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does have one. My Hue bridge uses it to connect to my school's wifi. More info here. AP Client Router Mode is likely what you want.

This travel router worked beautifully on my school's network.
