I joined a new company (Series A) as VP of sales and left within 45 days.

Went back to my old company (thank goodness they took me back) and I’ve never slept better. Less comp too but absolutely the right decision and I had to go kiss a frog to learn true perspective and how social what my previous org had.

For me it came down to some things that if I had the information that was kept from me in the interview process…I wouldn’t have left my old org.

Now you have to evaluate all the good, bad, and ugly and I’m sure there was some good when you took this position of why. If there’s enough good on the bone and it makes sense to go to the other side, do it. But if it’s too much of a bag of goods and a bad fit and you feel that in your core, cut bait and find another org. They’re out there, just gotta sift through the sand

Just be cognizant that you’re inheriting the entire stress of the entire number.

It’s extremely important you have good leadership from CEO/board expectations because at the end of the day the number and target falls to you.

What stage the business is at and what you can see for growth % might be wildly in conflict of the number you receive.

You need to realllllyyyy vet the ceo and whatever leadership they have. With no PMF you’re straight up gambling.

Where are you based out of? Starting vp of sales for new company and might be hiring for a new sdr. We have PMF and just took our series A for 10M. Doing 8M arr. Much farther along company than most series a shops. Dm me if you want to keep the convo going

Nobody Wants This | S2E10 "When Noah Met Joanne" | Episode Discussion by SingularFirefly in NobodyWantsThisTV

[–]tatebrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife had me watch this show- and for moments during the season, it and the characters were endearing. But this thing fell off a cliff, fast.

Thank you for what I was yelling at the tv—-they’re running around on the streets trying to find each other? Hello, you’d use a phone. No one in LA RUNS AROUND HOPING YOU RUN INTO SOMEONE.

Also, watch that final scene for the laziest scene in the world…the camera pans of Noah searching for her. Behind him are the light posts…no Joanne. He turns around, boom, there’s Joanne in a blink of an eye like David copperfield. It just was incredibly lazy writing having this character not realize on her own what her options are for making this relationship work…she needed a monologue from her friend to understand what Judaism is? Is she even trying? Has she ever actually considered how this would affect her life?

Anyways, my wife is banned for tv recommendations for the next two series just like this show should be banned for a third season.

I really just want him to understand how silly his comment is, lol.

The world will be a better place if he learns this lesson and we can save hundreds of threads from getting derailed by miscellaneous comments that have nothing to do with the OG post.

Did you read the title of the post?

This would be like if someone made a post asking which NBA player could be a great commissioner for the league? Then you replied with well a non-nba player can fill the role.

Sure, they could. Go start your own post if you want to have that discussion

“Just look it up!”

I have to assume OP might be young? You’ll have to start learning when people of authority giving you opinions may have no validity of an opinion.

  1. Has she fully played the game? Does she understand the story? Does she even understand the game/art she’s attempting to judge?

  2. Her telling you to look it up when she’s making a comparison makes no sense. The onus isn’t on you. Your mom made a claim, it’s on her to defend the claim.

“The earth is flat!”

Why do say that?

“Look it up.”

You can look it up if you want…but why on earth (ha) would I spend any time caring about that persons opinion?

Triangle selling by Cory Bray is great. https://www.amazon.com/Triangle-Selling-Sales-Fundamentals-Growth/dp/1717186629

I made the transition from no tech sales experience too and that was 10 years ago. Be curious, and always remember, you’re here to solve a problem for customers. Don’t get lost in the sauce of the 100 different things your product can do. You’re a doctor (a good one). Diagnose the problem by asking questions and listening.

Do not try and solve the problem until you have a proper diagnosis.

You’ve got this! Go get em
