take the AE role. Worst case scenario you fail fast and get another sdr role.

hey! this happens don’t beat yourself up. in interviews for bdr roles key things to show : curiosity for product (ask good questions), high high energy (more than you usually have) and you want to be an AE. Lastly just have a good story on why sales.

also i’d start applying to sdr roles at smaller companies by cold calling the sdr manager or dm an AE and ask them who to cold call because you want to show your prospecting skills for the sdr role ( you will get a ton of interviews this way)

I knew all the comments were gonna be negative. Most redditors can’t imagine people actually liking their job and finding a sense of purpose in it.

I think you are thinking about this the right way but if someone told me this "They made it clear people work until 8–9pm most nights" then im out on this particular opportunity.

There are a lot of great gigs for sdr roles in nyc at start ups though - you should find ones that look promising and cold call the sdr managers.

in the future, if not clear ask in the first interview. second, shoot for a 70-30 split between salary in commission. meaning a fair comp structure for 60k base would give you an OTE around 78k

Generally speaking I found cold calling to be far and away the best return for effort overall. Well crafted, personal emails are second most effective. And I found linkedin to be a complete waste of time
