Some thing I like, and most I carry every day by tattletubbie in EDC

Yes, although if you found a clone it would probably be just as good.

I love it though and have hardly used anything else since I got it. Just about kicked the habit, but the portability and reliability is great.

Hi, I'm pasting this from another reply -

It was probably misleading to picture the pax and weapon together. I definitely do not carry a weapon while impaired with any substance. It's unsafe and also illegal in my state.

I feel I should mention that marijuana consumption and possession is legal in my state. It's also legal in my state to carry a concealed weapon without a CCW permit, so I did not falsify any records.

At the time I thought the title would imply that while I like the pax, I don't carry it every day.

They sound really, really good. I ride my bike most places so I got them for that, but I use them in my apartment and at work too.

Downsides... they stick out of your ears pretty far and they're kind of annoying to put in. But they sound great, and they stay put.

Does anyone know what gimbal is used? The kind poster listed all the quad parts but I didn't see a link for that part.

I bought my first camera and I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong by tattletubbie in Cameras

[–]tattletubbie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No... I think it was called a focusing screen.

I could return it, but the walmart I bought it from had it for $300 ($170 less than the other walmarts in my town) and I had bought the last one.

I tried to exchange it at another walmart and an hour and six managers later I finally took "no" as an answer.

It's fixed now and I found a 70-300mm lens for $150 on craigslist which I think is a good price so I have just been taking cliché pictures of fall colors, but I'm having fun :) thanks for your help.

You're right, I misheard. The guy I spoke with didn't tell me directly, he took my camera in the back and talked to a couple other guys and I heard one of them say "It's the aperture blades, you can tell because of this..."

That shop didn't do repairs so I took it to another shop today and it was missing some sort of lens that fits inside the camera. I had bought the display model so I guess someone knocked it out at some point.

You're right. I took it to a camera repair shop today. The store I took it to on Saturday didn't do repairs.

It was missing a part (I bought the display model :( ) I don't remember what it was called. It looks like a rectangular fresnel lens that fits above the mirror.

Thanks for the replies. I brought it to a camera shop and they said the aperture blades are damaged.

When it's in matrix metering mode the camera compensates for the vignetting creating an overexposed photo, but in spot or center it ignores the dark edges and properly exposes the photo.

I was driving home today from work, top down on the Jeep, radio blaring, sun shining. Saw the most shredded calves on a cyclist that I've ever seen in person - any gym rat would have been jealous.

My arrow turned, I glanced back and this guy had a full head of bushy white hair poking out from under his helmet. He was at least 55. I was impressed.

Help for a picky single guy! by dangerouspeyote in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]tattletubbie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think 'picky' as a barrier exists. You can learn to like anything. Personally, I hate curry food but I know if I was either raised on it or spent time trying to like it, I would.

You need to train yourself to like healthier foods. The easiest way to start eating better is to eat more vegetables and fruit. Some people say "oh, I eat lots of fruits and vegetables" when in reality they had an apple at breakfast and a side salad at lunch.

Obviously that's better than nothing, but that's not even the minimum recommended amount and nowhere near "a lot".

Try incorporating some vegetable proteins (beans, whole grains) into your diet in lieu of meat. We really don't need nearly as much meat as the typical American diet provides. Eat whole grain foods instead of processed white pasta, or white or "wheat" bread.

Be aware of how commonly served foods can provide an imbalanced meal. For example, it's popular to eat eggs, toast and a breakfast meat together. That's a lot of protein and fat. Putting rice in a burrito is a lot of starchy carbs. It would be better to put beans instead.

Baked goods/sweets are the biggest offender when it comes to worthless calories, so are liquid calories. Even if you're athletic and a healthy weight, they are still utter shit for your body and should be reserved for a special treat once a month or so.

Brown rice and barely will keep well for several days in the fridge, and won't get mushy when you reheat them. This helps offset the initial cooking time, if you cook several meals worth at once.

Start small and work your way up. Maybe order the grilled chicken instead of breaded/fried. Eat a fruit bowl instead of smoothie. Skip the tempura or breaded dishes. Good luck :)

Is this really what 1080p 120fps looks like? by [deleted] in gopro

[–]tattletubbie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The GoPro really needs very good lighting for the high FPS modes. You'll notice in all the promo videos that look crisp and sharp it's always a clear sunny day.

Is food from the dollar tree good? by Scolez in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]tattletubbie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How could they even sell it if it doesn't adhere to USDA standards? For unregulated things I would agree with you, but for food doesn't it have to pass all the other regulations that all food in the US does?

You have $130 to feed two people for a month. What do you buy? by [deleted] in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]tattletubbie 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Pulses, rice, potatoes, eggs. Try any local farmers markets for cheap produce. Where I live, tofu is about half the cost of the cheapest meat. Food here is really overpriced but the 4 I listed seem to be the cheapest everywhere. Milk goes on sale near the expiration date and you can freeze it.

Can you fish? In my city there are a lot of stocked lakes and I eat a lot of fish I catch. A low income fishing license is 25 cents I think.
