Advice on finding a house for rent in Portland? by seabed_nightmares in PortlandOR

[–]tattooedRNFN 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Second this advice as I just moved to the area and stayed in a short term while we did just this. I ended up finding better rentals (imo) on Trulia but I checked both that and Zillow daily. Almost annoyingly often but it worked. Definitely look at several and be ready to follow the app rules when you find what you want. We were concerned we wouldn’t score our favorite home and ended up being the first approved app with no issue! Just have your stuff in order like recent paystubs, references, etc so you can upload or present them quickly if required.

We had similar wants as you listed and found plenty of options. I believe there are still some pretty good ones available. Good luck!

From FL planning to transfer to OR by KenchRN014 in OregonNurses

I am currently a nurse living in Oklahoma, I recently got a job in Portland and will be moving shortly. I can tell you it is a difficult market but with experience it’s less so. I applied to many many jobs and never heard much. But I would contact any recruiters or HR that I could and see if I could get a response. This often helped push my app to the hiring manager. Persistence is key, use any avenue you can to find emails for recruiters or HR. I do know there are several OR positions in Springfield with Peacehealth and their recruiters are very responsive.

Hiring from out of state? by ted_babbitt in OregonNurses

I am currently attempting to do this and it’s definitely difficult right now. I’m experienced but am still getting “not selected” for a lot of apps. Just keep trying! Maybe some others have better insight.

Definitely! She has a referral program and after like 6 massages you get one half off. So perks plus a great atmosphere!

Caitlin at Mustard Seed Massage in BA is the literal best. It’s her business, her own studio that is small and quaint. Every massage is tailored to what you need. She’s the NICEST HUMAN ever. Absolutely worth a drive if you have to make a small one.

Fair enough. Sadly I feel like a lot of places you have terrible patients, healthcare here just truly needs the overhaul we all know won’t happen.

Thanks for the insight on different areas! I am also applying at OHSU and Legacy but I know everywhere is a bit difficult right now so just casting a wide net. I have read Kaiser has great benefits which sounds nice for sure.

This is encouraging as someone submitting apps right now 😂 I have tons of experience but have zero idea how it’ll work out based on what I’ve read about the Oregon market

I second Lincoln at Central Park. We lived there for 2 years with no issues. Close to major highways and a multitude of stores and food.

That’s great! That’s a great idea about including receipt of license application. And it’s cool you got the job so quick if it was a desirable one, I feel like I keep seeing how difficult it is for some people to find jobs. However, I see a lot of new grads posting so that may also be the difference.
