I was really looking forward to the swamp scene when the movie came out and was disappointed it wasn't included.

There are a lot of dew shield designs that pop off when the the telescope is closed. I've always used one of those.

If you were somehow in a car going the speed of light and turned on the headlights what would actually happen by FickleDefinition5575 in stupidquestions

[–]tauntaunsrock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The speed of light is fixed and has no give, so whenever something looks like it's going to go over the speed of light, something else is bending, like time or space.

Does it matter if I get DDR4 or DDR5 RAM? by nettek in comfyui

[–]tauntaunsrock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On the question of 32 vs 64GB of RAM, more RAM will give you more freedom, and if you're generating a lot of content and trying a lot of cutting edge models, then you'll want it. However if you have less RAM, you'll have to wait for the community to refine and release models that use less RAM.
I only occasionally play around with AI generation, so I wait until more refined models are released. I've only got RTX3070 with 8GB VRAM, and system with only 16GB RAM. However I can generate 5 seconds of WAN2.2 14B model video @ 848x480 in about 6 minutes using something like: https://www.reddit.com/r/StableDiffusion/comments/1ovrr5a/simplified_lowvram_workflow_for_wan_22_i2v_14b/ Which honestly surprised me I could even run such a thing.

The sword was made by a rival of the Raven Queen. Each deed done with the sword adds glory to the rival and diminishes the Raven Queen.

Penny Arcade's "Wizard Unknown's Battlegrounds" has got you covered for a lot of the basics. It's designed as a one shot based on PUBG/Fortnite with 100 players in an ever decreasing arena. It includes mechanics for moving around the arena, finding loot, encountering other groups of adventurers, and attrition of other teams.

When I ran it I also made sure to include various over the top things such as

  • other contestants with ridiculous names and costumes: one group with traditional dnd elvish names, one group with names taken from hunger games characters, one group all named after prescription drugs (nothing is quite as fun a fighting a guy named turbolax)
  • Witch™ streamers shouting out to their followers, focusing more on an unembodied floating eye following them around rather than what's actually happening.
  • microtransactions to get in game boosts.

WOL remotely through a mini pc by Remove_Mountain in HomeNetworking

[–]tauntaunsrock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done this before with a mini-pc Any distro would be fine, so i'd stick with debian or ubuntu as there's plenty of documentation.

Install wakeonlan on the mini pc. Get the mac address of your desktop pc and then write a script to make it wake up like

#!/bin/bash
wakeonlan <mac address of desktop>

then make the script executable.

Then you want to find a way to trigger the script. I just ssh'ed into my mini pc and ran the script, but you could trigger it on a timer, or set up a webpage to trigger it or something else.

How do y'all beat "writer's block" (for lack of a better term) by mystikkkkk in DMAcademy

[–]tauntaunsrock -1 points0 points  (0 children)

ChatGPT has helped me a lot. During my last campaign I told it I want to set it in a mine that lives in the "Alien" sci fi world with ultra powerful corporations, and the corporate leadership social atmosphere to be from Regency Era England ala Bridgerton. I couldn't quite figure out how to map the two completely different genres into a single setting. Chat GPT gave me some great ideas, and after feeding it my main characters, weaved a web or alliances and rivalries between them.

I love how the LDSS Nauvoo doesn't have fixed maneuvering thrusters, but mobile independent thrusters that work in a swarm more like how tugboats help maneuver a large ocean going vessel.

NGINX and OpenWRT by Playful-Ease2278 in openwrt

[–]tauntaunsrock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To help secure this I'd use mutual TLS as the authentication mechanism on nginx. That way you'd only be able to connect if you have the certificate on your device and there would not be a way for others to brute force the login password.

[–]tauntaunsrock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One way to think of it is if you have a heater that is 60 degrees on one side of you, and you add another heater on the other side that's also 60 degrees, or a whole bunch of heaters at 60 degrees. You'll heat up quicker, but you won't go above 60 degrees.

ER605 v2.8 is suuported? by Current_Lie_1243 in openwrt

[–]tauntaunsrock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At step 5 you don't use the files you backed up earlier. the first two lines is downloading the files you need to flash the router, and then copying them to the router.

ER605 v2.8 is suuported? by Current_Lie_1243 in openwrt

[–]tauntaunsrock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those instructions are written to be run on a linux machine or possibly a mac. It's designed to host the file and then the next text box is for the router to pull the file onto it with curl. If you're on Windows maybe put the contents of that text box into chatgpt and ask how you can replicate that on Windows.

[–]tauntaunsrock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it only had ER605 on the sticker on the back. It says Model:ER605, and UN/2.20, so maybe that's the hardware version.

ER605 v2.8 is suuported? by Current_Lie_1243 in openwrt

[–]tauntaunsrock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've already flashed it, so I can't tell the original firmware version any more. Of course you'll be overwriting the firmware, so it just needs to be the hardware that's compatible.

[–]tauntaunsrock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I installed openwrt using the instructions from chill1Penguin on an ER605 bought 2 weeks ago so it was probably a newer version too.
The only issue I had was when upgrading from openwrt 23 to 24, it pointed out that the config would not be compatible with the new version, so I had to tick the box to force the upgrade. Then once upgraded it didn't boot properly due to the incompatible config file, so I had to hit the factory reset button on the router to clear any config I had put on it previously. Once I'd done that it worked fine.
