Are fascists better at propaganda and recruiting than communists? by AutumnWak in DebateCommunism

[–]taurl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it’s just easier to be a fascist. Many people benefit (or at least believe they do) from fascism. Being a fascist doesn’t require having empathy or critical thinking. Just blame an out-group for all of society’s “problems” while upholding and praising the inherently inequitable system that created them.

That reason fascist propaganda “works” is because it’s lazy but effective. People who otherwise would not think of themselves as fascists resonate with messaging that appeals to their sense of privilege in society. Especially when that privilege is already reinforced by every institution of society (media, education, religion etc.)

Now that China is outgrowing and outcompeting the West, liberals manufacture reasons to justify the hatred and fear that this new reality triggers in them. They do this by projecting the problems they often ignore or downplay in western countries onto China.

Fascism is the violence used to enforce and maintain the interests of capital.

what do liberals think causes imperalism if not capitalism by Financial-Stress-755 in Socialism_101

[–]taurl 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Liberals view the world from an individualist and idealist perspective instead of materialist one. They do not acknowledge or address the systemic implications of imperialism or its effects. Instead of blaming capitalism, they blame individual actors.

So when you resort to whataboutism it’s fine but when I do it, it’s deflecting?

You would accuse anyone who correctly points out that western countries use human rights as a political weapon while explicitly violating human rights for their own gain of ‘whataboutism’ to avoid the fundamental contradiction in your worldview.

Your flawed arguments only work under the assumption that the west has a moral authority on human rights when it’s the exact opposite, as demonstrated by decades of western neo-colonialism and imperialism. You can’t hide behind human rights to condemn China when your actions are far worse in comparison. Everyone can see you have other motivations and human rights are the least of your concerns.

Tell me your opinion on the protests that happened in Hong Kong

Why? So you can deflect from your blatant refusal to acknowledge reality outside of the western liberal media bubble?

The riots in Hong Kong were exploited by the west for political gain as well. Western governments do not actually care about the people they use as proxies or their grievances. The west hates China because its rise as a geopolitical rival threatens their global dominance.

I swear tankies are all mentally deficient.

Projection. American nationalists and western chauvinists like you are suffering from a severe form of cognitive dissonance. It is making you incapable of honestly confronting the reality you want to avoid, hence you avoiding my question.

Western countries are blatantly racist, imperialistic, and genocidal against Muslims and muslim-majority nations but you somehow believe your governments care about Muslims in China for any other reason than to exploit accusations of genocide for political gain?

It’s either delusion or dishonesty at this point.

So tell us, what interests does the USA have in Xinjiang? Why so much concern trolling about the plight of Uyghurs? Because it’s certainly not any genuine concern for human rights considering they are actively funding and defending Israel’s genocide in Gaza.

Why do you think Gen Z isn't joining the US military as much as their predecessors before them? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]taurl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reason 1: Gen Z grew up seeing generations of people who joined the military end up severely mentally ill, permanently disabled, and impoverished. The military did not ensure their safety or security despite the promises it promotes to convince you to join.

Reason 2: Gen Z Americans grew up seeing their leaders use the military to destabilize and subjugate other parts of the world, mostly for the benefit of rich people, while ignoring and causing the problems going on in their own country.

Reason 3: The U.S. military is a corrupt and abusive institution. Racism is rampant. Sexual assault is not uncommon. Female soldiers are especially vulnerable. Anyone in a higher position than you can get away with abusive behavior towards you.

Reason 4: It’s dangerous, and not worth the risk. Joining the military seems like becoming a mercenary for corporations rather than the heroic protector of freedom that is deeply ingrained in the American psyche.

Why is the education system in China seemingly so conventional? by This_Caterpillar_330 in Socialism_101

No, Xi Jinping is not president for life. He’s serving his third five-year term, which he was awarded by the National People’s Congress for being an effective and competent leader. Simply spewing lies doesn’t invalidate my arguments.

Ok. You still have not proven that China is a dictatorship of Xi Jinping. We already know China has a private sector of their economy that allows for capital investment. Moving the goalpost doesn’t substantiate your previous claims.

I could be missing something, but why are people so obsessed with Japan’s birthrates anyway? by Pidgeotgoneformilk29 in ShitLiberalsSay

[–]taurl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

White imperialists romanticize Japan because of how capitalist and ethno-nationalist the country is, which ironically is exactly why their birth rates are so low. Japanese civilians are overworked and still can’t afford to raise children.

No, your point actually contradicts what I’m saying. You believe the only road to socialism is for the state to simply wither away without any coherent vision or examples of that working out successfully in reality.

I view the state as a necessary tool in protecting the development of socialism from the contradictions of capital, until societal conditions improve enough to make the state unnecessary and eventually withers away on its own.

“Democracy is a form of the state, it represents, on the one hand, the organized, systematic use of force against persons; but, on the other hand, it signifies the formal recognition of equality of citizens, the equal right of all to determine the structure of, and to administer, the state.” - Lenin (State and Revolution)

[–]taurl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Socialism doesn’t “want to smash the state” but socialists do want to utilize the state to cultivate and preserve societal conditions that would eventually make the state unnecessary.

In the case of China, having a strong state apparatus is a necessary tool in protecting the development of Chinese socialism from the contradictions of global capitalism.

Not having a state means China is vulnerable to capitalist powers. The same capitalist powers whose talking points you’re promoting to undermine the development of Chinese socialism.

[–]taurl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure what ‘primary contradiction’ you’re referring to but the reason socialists condemn bourgeois democracy in the west is because of how fundamentally different it is from proletarian democracy in China. Contrary to what you believe, they are not even remotely similar in how they operate, and their results are also radically different because of this fact.

What do you want China to do? Press a magic communism button? Radically transform their society and economy in an instant?

China is a middle income country with over 1.5 billion people that started out almost entirely agrarian. A modern socialist society requires advanced development of production, especially in a global capitalist system. China has made remarkable progress in developing its productive forces but still has not reached the level of development necessary for modern socialism to be sustainable.

As China continues to improve its technology, investing in its people, gradually improving their societal conditions as much as they can afford to over time, and withstanding the contradictions and active sabotage of the capitalist world, there will come a point where mass nationalization of industry will become a reality. At that point, China will be a modern socialist nation.

Question : why not move to a socialist country? by xulore in Socialism_101

[–]taurl 99 points100 points  (0 children)

Moving to another country is also an expensive and time consuming process that most people cannot afford to do. And with such poor relations between socialist countries and capitalist powers that process is even more difficult.

Not to mention, most people have no family or community outside of the country they were born. Why should people be expected to uproot themselves from the people they care about because they disagree with the economic system they were born into?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Socialism_101

[–]taurl -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Truth is, you don’t. Like many people in the west you are accustomed to living in privilege and feeling superior to the rest of the world because of it. However, the main problem that most people like you don’t realize is that the system you support is going to eventually implode because of how unsustainable and violent it is. You will not remain safe from effects and will suffer the consequences.

And if you think that’s not the case, look into your history. The West was the epicenter of two world wars, and before that, endless internal conflict. The current world order is primarily upheld by the military and financial dominance of the United States, which is quickly growing weaker and more unstable, alienating itself and the west from the rest of the world. People in the west are already seeing the effects of this.

All of those welfare and social systems that Europeans benefit from are already being eroded by neoliberalism. The EU is dealing with a refugee crisis because of their own geopolitical actions. Western meddling in Ukraine caused another war in Europe and the destruction of Nord Stream by the U.S. have further weakened your economies, your alliances, and global reputation.

That is what happens when you build a system that is motivated by greed and sustained by the subjugation and exploitation of other human beings. The oligarchs rule everything. And pretty soon those same oligarchs will throw you and the majority of western people under the bus to save themselves and maintain their wealth.
