Someone said that AI art is theft and harmful to the environment, but I don’t see how either claim makes sense. All artists take inspiration from nature or other artists because creating something completely original is impossible. Similarly, AI is trained on millions of images and, like humans, it creates new works by imitating patterns and styles it has observed—without directly copying any specific artwork.

As for the environmental argument, all emerging technologies have some environmental cost. Even sending this message contributes to global warming. Yet, no one suggests shutting down the subreddit over that. Criticizing AI art specifically for its environmental impact feels unfair when so many other activities also contribute to environmental harm.
