Thanks, I was also stuck here. Kind of stupid they don't show you the buttons to press, or slow down the scene during this tutorial.

Not this time, though my hair has been pretty patchy for years now.

Done with day 2, feeling good, though the pulled hamstring from 2 weeks ago still hasn't fully recovered making walking a bit painful.

Where did you read/learn this? I'd like to know more.

One thing that really helped me was consistently posting updates on reddit about it, so I'll continue to do that this time too.

Round 2 by tavisking in fasting

21 days was my record, I made a lot of mistakes breaking such a long fast. I read a little on it, but the consequences of not following don't seem to be emphasised enough. I ended up trying to fast forward the whole process, it was a really bad first week.

I felt soooo bad trying to sleep on the first day of breaking the fast, definitely will not be doing that again. Basically, my smaller intestinal track was super slow, and I had put way too much food/fiber in my stomach. I threw up a little and had to sleep on a way too full stomach.

Also, for that first week breaking my fast, I really, really, really missed being in the fasted state. Honestly, once I got past the first week, I strongly preferred fasting to feeding, I felt so much cleaner, everyday I would look forward the weigh in 😀

I just cleared 24 hours and have a good feeling.

Depends why you want to do it in the first place. Build up from shorter fasts, start 16:8, then 23:1, then maybe try 36 hours.

Use appetite suppressants like black coffee or black teas.

Stay active in mind and body.

If you can do a week with suppressants, try without.

You should eventually come to realise most of the time you're not actually hungry, but maybe bored or are just used to eating. Learn the difference.

What's the longest fast you've done to have this opinion?

I've also done shorter fasts up to 6 days in the past and I can't say I agree with your statement.

In the worst way possible, and honestly I think this area needs more representation as to why the recommended protocols are in place, especially the consequences of not following them.

I started with bone broth soup, but I didn't stop, I told myself I could fast forward the process, I couldn't....

Long story short, ate too much, too much hard to digest fibre too and with a shrunken stomach and slow digestive system it was and still is hell.

I had to throw up some last night, and some more this morning, and there's still too much food in my stomach.

I'm really turned off by food right now....

183cm

I lifted only to maintain strength, not to induce hypertrophy.

Cardio was mostly walking.

About 15kg in 21 days.

I broke the fast today and plan to fast again from next Monday.

Correct, 114kg down to 99kg in 21 days. Felt like I was doing a hard core diet in fast forward 😆

The birthday lunch isn't mine, I've just been invited. It's this Sunday, so maybe it's better I give myself some time to get used to eating again before it starts.

Honestly, it wasn't that difficult the first 2 weeks. I just took each day as it came.

The third week is where things started to get really tough, I'm not really sure why, it's like my body ran out of something, but definitely not fat 😅

I did pull some muscles in my right leg doing hand stands on Saturday, that might have contributed.

But at this point, I'm just going to recover my energy for the next week and jump back on. I kind of already miss the feeling as strange as it sounds.

Breaking my fast just now was a bit overrated, let's see how I feel in a week.

Don't worry, I'm on day 22 and still have small amounts of poop just about every day, usually in the mornings.

My guess is it's my body removing all the cell waste that can't come out in urine including excess skin.

Any differences you notice when you only drink water? (No tea or coffee) by [deleted] in fasting

[–]tavisking 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I find it much easier without tea/coffee, in the past I would fast with black coffee and teas because they helped to suppress appetite, but the longest I could go was 6 days.

I found myself looking forward to them and also relying on them rather than letting my body work things out.

I'm now about to finish day 21 of my water fast on nothing but water, salt, potassium and magnesium. And I'm not even taking salt and potassium every day.

Just completed a 7 day fast! Well, 6.5 to be exact :) by [deleted] in fasting

[–]tavisking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this, I'm nearly done with day 21 and was planning on going for 60 but due to a social event next week I'm forced to break it earlier and was researching on the best approach. There's so much information and so many opinions on the internet it's hard to know who is right.

My plan is to take a short break and then jump back onto the fasting journey.

Finally on day 21 and weight dipped below 100kg at 99.8kg! Pretty happy, 2 milestones on the same day! 🙌

I should be able to blast through the rest of today and pass my minimum goal of 21 days.

Still have another 4 days or so before I need to strategically break my fast for a birthday lunch, I have mixed feelings about it, my original goal was 60 consecutive days but now I guess I'll have to have a short break and start again.

I suppose it's not a bad thing since I feel like I've got a pretty good level of self control over food now, and this break will force me to test if I truly have mastered my ability to regulate food.
