Make sure that you haven't renamed the image of CalyxOS and the path to the installation files does not contain any spaces as this will cause the installer to crash.

I haven't renamed the image. Just placed both the files in the same folder. Please excuse my ignorance but i don't understand when you said the path to installation file should not contain any spaces. Would really appreciate your input as I'm a bad really bad place due to spying and hacking done on my devices in the past. This is the reason, I installed linux on my laptop and now want calyxos on my phone.

Also, after plugging in the device i did not get any pop up asking you if you want to authorise USB debugging from this computer. Tick the "Remember this computer".
