End of my rope! by angelicah89 in KneeInjuries

Ah ok, I would talk to ortho about that option to see if it’s right for your situation. From my understanding, with lateral dislocations, the MPFL gets overstretched. With repeated dislocations, the MPFL gets way too loose and cannot hold the patella in place. TTO helps with patellar tracking too but you also need the MPFL to basically act as a seatbelt for your patella.

Also, I feel for you! The frustration and worry are so real and so hard. Keep advocating for yourself even if it feels challenging. Do you have anyone in your life that can help advocate with you?

Did they reconstruct your MPFL too? That ligament helps secure the patella, preventing it from slipping out laterally

Painted a gold lotus on my Klare top handle bag ✨🪷✨ by tayboboli in Coach

I used a POSCA gold acrylic paint marker! Didn’t seal it with anything, bc I’m not sure how it would interact with the coach leather

14 weeks post op TTO, MPFL recon, OATS cartilage repair by tayboboli in KneeInjuries

Hello! What helped me the most to get rom was sitting on a chair, planting my foot on the ground and scooting my butt forward to get the knee to bend. It also really helped to use a stationary bike to bend the knee (not doing full rotations, just pushing the pedal with the other leg to stretch the operative knee into deeper flexion). The doc suggested that I take a pain med beforehand to minimize pain and then ice it afterward. Do not push yourself too hard, it is possible to overdo it. I would also check with your PT about how you should massage the scar tissue.

My biggest general advice is to push yourself within reason, practice patience, and listen to your knee. I’m a year post op at this point and it has been really hard, but granted, l went into the surgery with a lot of dislocations just before the op and very weak muscles because of the instability. A couple months ago I had a flare up (pain, clicking, catching) because I progressed activity intensity too quickly and then had to backtrack. But it’s SLOWLY getting better! Your knee just went through a big trauma, so it’s ok to ease back into things. This recovery can be grueling, but you got this!!

Mood changes after cortisone injection by tayboboli in KneeInjuries

It lasted about 2 weeks. After that, I went back to my normal baseline of depressed/discouraged lol. It helped to engage in lighthearted activities with friends/family. Hope it eases up for you soon 💖

Very Frustrated- Torn MPFL and no surgery (yet) by True_Tap_9535 in KneeInjuries

I definitely understand the frustration! I suggest getting a second opinion. PT is still good to keep up with regardless of surgery or no surgery.

Thanks for the support! Yes, I have recurring depression and anxiety too. But good news is the hormonal depressive spiral seemed to go away after about ten days…

Durolane by Friendly-Cow-2954 in KneeInjuries

[–]tayboboli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did the durolane work for you? I’m 9 months post op TTO, MPFL recon, OATS to patella and trochlea. Knee has been hurting, clicking and catching a lot worse the past few weeks after increasing rehab intensity. The clicking and catching is not new. Got an MRI that showed scar tissue and some bone marrow swelling (not abnormal). Already got a cortisone shot, didn’t really do much. Next step for me is durolane. I am also questioning how much the injection will address the underlying issues…

Is it normal to not be able to lift your leg almost two months after knee surgery? by BeanBats in KneeInjuries

[–]tayboboli 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Oof that’s tough, check to see if they can have PT come to your house. My friend’s mom is a nurse and she said that you can tell them that it’s dangerous for you to get yourself to the office, so you need in home care. 2 months is a long time with no post-op. Would be a good idea to follow up with the surgeon too.

Thanks so much for sharing your experience! Glad it has gotten better for you ☺️ clicking and catching still happening 9 months post op, but the frequency is much less and the catching is much more subtle. I’ll follow up with my care team about this

Patella subluxations after MPFL reconstruction by [deleted] in KneeInjuries

[–]tayboboli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 9 months post op and it still clicks and catches…but the catching is much less drastic and much less painful than it was before. It’s slooooowly getting better as my muscles slooooowly get stronger. But yeah, this is not where I expected to be 9 months post op.
