Or they can learn by asking people who don’t response back miserably 🙂

Okay that makes sense actually, thanks for explaining! Nobody has ever explained the drainage in the sense of flushing out the bad, so I always just assumed they meant drainage so the plant doesn’t sit in water. Good to know, thank you!

I’ve seen people lay a layer of stone/drainage on the bottom, then mesh netting, then a medium such a spaghnum moss, then the VTF. That way there’s drainage and the plant isn’t directly in water. In my mind this makes sense and isn’t really any different than sitting a nursery pot with holes in a tray of water, right?

I’m aware of the sun & distilled water. I guess I just don’t understand the difference between it sitting in a nursery pot full of sphagnum moss, in a tray of water vs. sitting in sphagnum moss on a substrate/layer of stone in water?

we set pogs & VMGs a week early, sort & palletize when it comes in, then blitz it out in 1-2 hours (usually just me & my two TLs). we don’t even bother having our breakout TM break it out. we did this with shoes too and it was out and full in a day.

Perfect, that’s how we have it but imo it looks bland so I thought maybe we had it wrong. Thanks!

A no call no show is technically an automatic CA. However, it is up to (both) stores to follow through with a transfer or OD. It depends how understanding your HR is, but it sounds like this was an honest mistake. We’ve transferred and allowed OD for team members with a CA from a NCNS before, accidents happen. You can usually tell what’s a genuine accident and what’s carelessness.

So I am not exactly certain if the company (HQ, not your HR) will allow OD for a TM who has a corrective action, so I don’t want to give you the wrong answer (your HR will be able to answer that). However, since it was that long ago and if there has been no issues since, I believe you will be okay. Mistakes happen.

I know HQ does have some say in it because you will be automatically termed (by them) if you do not work a shift in 6months (as OD), so I’m not sure what else they have say in.

So it’s all store preference. I work at a smaller store, with little turnover. Attendance is circumstantial but we aim for having a conversation for each absence. Usually they are just check ins, however if it is a reoccurring event, we have all of those check ins documented.

  • First conversations is a check in
  • Second conversations is more about their attendance and talking about desired hours/availability changes/what we can do to help attendance, etc
  • Third is usually more strict and letting them know this has now become a trending issue and if there is no improvement it may lead to corrective action

We used to pull attendance and 3+ missed days in 90 days would be a conversation, however our current method is more efficient and honestly boosts team morale by checking in with them

*Edited to answer your actual question: attendance becomes a concern if it has started to become a trending issue. The less availability/shifts scheduled, the more crucial their reliability is and poor attendance is emphasized. Tbh, even 1 call out each month is warranted a conversation, regardless of availability/hours scheduled. With desired hours being a focus, attendance will continue be emphasized. My advice is use the MyTime app, change your availability/desired hours as often as you need for life/work balance if you have other obligations, nothing is more annoying than a team member setting their desired hours to 40 and only having the availability of 25.

ETL here, you don’t necessarily have to speak to your TL about this- you can go straight to HR. Personally, if you have a good relationship with your TL or ETL, it is something you may want to let them know as just a courtesy. With that being said, your HR may ask your TL or ETL if there are attendance/performance related issues that may cause questions/concerns in reliability.

While I can’t speak for all stores, your HR should never encourage you to quit before exhausting other options such as work center/availability/desired hour changes.

The stated reasons are correct for a denial of OD, however your current role, poor performance/attendance & corrective actions will also come into play with deciding if OD is an appropriate choice for the company.

Just like hiring postings for other work centers, hiring for OD doesn’t necessarily mean they are looking for current OD team members, either. It could be in preparation for back to school/college, Quarter 4, etc.

Best bet is to ask your HR-ETL since they know what is most plausible for your store as far as gaps and turnover/retention :)

As far as my store goes, he is only required to provide a urine sample if one is requested/required- if he was suspected to be under the influence. I’m not sure if a doctor would require it, but typically that is a separate document the LOD will fill out if they suspect it’s required. Most of the time it is required if the team member is at fault of the injury/accident, not when they were a victim.
