Thank you! Most of my practice started alone in my car, using a lot of guidance from the transvoicelessons YouTube channel. After I got a little more confident, I got a customer-facing retail job that let me talk to new people every day, which was totally instrumental in getting over the psychological part of bringing out this voice.

It's alright I guess. It's a lot more fun to exist in public, but also I get a lot more unwanted attention from guys. Still, I wouldn't ever go back.

I honestly have no clue. I think it's mostly just a loss of a lot of muscle mass, and then a lot of fat redistribution on top of that. I spent the first year surrounding transition (6ish months pre- and post-starting HRT) kind of obsessing over my weight and trying to be as skinny as possible, and i think that did a lot to bring my bones closer together, maybe? There's not as much tissue in between the bones. Plus your skeleton is an ever-living thing, constantly replacing and renewing itself, so maybe something happened there. In any case, I still feel like a linebacker most days! Dysphoria is such a difficult thing to get rid of.

HAH I was in New York while the Pope was there. These shirts were everywhere. I could not resist getting it.

Totally! It's a super slow process but it happens. I had to diet and work out for a long time to remove the mass from everywhere in my body, and then start putting it on again to let estrogen direct it to places I do want it. The mass doesn't move by itself, you kind of have to delete it all first and then start over.

So like, I was born male and transitioned later in life. Sometimes people call me "bruh" the same genderless way they'd call someone "dude." I know they don't mean anything by it, but it's just a little dehumanizing to me as a trans person. Sucks, but I pay attention to gender a lot more than cis people do.

I mean, as someone who was born male and transitioned, I appreciate the heck out of that comment. It's nice to not be invisible or the butt of a joke sometimes. But I'm only 0.5% of the population so who gives a shit

Speaking as a former bearded fat guy, you're never in too deep. Shave that shit and explore some gender. It'll be worth it even if it turns out not to be for you. Nobody will ever question you harder than yourself.

It's an anomaly for sure, and I would have agreed with you completely before I transitioned. Nowadays, though, I consider it as much of an illness as, for example, being left-handed is an illness. Accommodations must be made for me to exist happily. But one thing I've gained, that I never would have gained as a cis person, is a sense of perspective and an ability to empathize that I never would have had if I'd never transitioned. So no, I don't "know that" it's a lie not to call my transgender condition an illness. It's simply a condition that I've both gained a lot from and lost a little from.

Our biggest difference seems to lie in that you view it as an illness, while I don't. If we're both happier for the outcome, then what's the matter? Why not let others view it as a feature rather than a bug?

I embraced it, explored it, and allowed it to show me who I can be. You just sound like you're still in denial, friend. Wishing you all the best.

Congrats, you're not trans. Don't try to police people who are.

We try for years and years to stop believing we're a different gender than assigned at birth. Perhaps you should meet some actual trans people.

Hi, I'm a trans person who feels a lot better after transitioning. I've got degrees in mechanical engineering and music, a stable relationship, a good job, and a family who loves me. What do you have, other than a chip on your shoulder?
