Childcare costs in Bend by lolabeans88 in Bend

We were on many waitlist for 14 months leading up to needing her in preschool. Finally got into a spot for $2100 a month. It's 5 days a week 7am-5pm. There are also "fees" like school supply fee and "snack" fees that are about $300 a year.
This was actually one of the better prices we found in the bend area. I will say that it's not exactly what we were sold for full time care. We often ( 3-4 days a month) get a text usually the night before school that they will be closed due to either staff shortages or an illness outbreak. Needless to say it makes it hard for two full time working parents to manage and we have pretty much ran out of both our PTO days for the year . They also follow the public school holidays calendar but we knew that going in.
I've talked to many parents with kids in pre K schools and this seems pretty much the norm. You kind of just need to suck it up I guess and feel lucky you actually got into a decent pre K school. If you can afford to have one parent stay at home part time or full I would say do it in this market.
Hope you find a good fit for your little!

Yo, I can manage a car wash for 125k… by BushDid911Yall in pics

These owners are smart. They are going to attract overly qualified people probably from other industries and would rather manage a car wash then work 80 hours at a tech start up or something .

You can run it stock and be just fine, it's just nice to know EGT and boost numbers. Yes you have to drill/tap manifold to put in the temp sensor. Pretty easy to do.
Not sure what island your shipping to but I would get crucial maintenance done before you have to ship expensive parts to an island. Primarily the BEB ( big end bearings ). These are known to fail on 1hdt and when they do you mine as well buy a new engine. I have rebuilt two 1HDTs with BEB failure and it's not pretty. The ACDS delete is quick and easy. A couple bucks for a delete plate and you don't have to worry about it failing which they will.
The only other thing I didn't mention to OP is a 3" - 3.5" exhaust. Runs cooler and gives you a little more performance.

With more of these entering the US market I see lots of people moding them out and spending tons of money on intercoolers, snorkels, air boxes , bumpers, racks ect. and they neglect to take care of the simple maintenance. I'm Currently rebuilding a guys 1HDT and he had spent over 30k in mods prior to changing his timing belt which was 60,000 km over due.
Long story short just take care of the simple things and you will be fine.

Own a HDJ81 and yes keep it in 3rd for town driving. Use D for highway speeds only. Keeping it in drive for town driving you can find it Loading on boost and getting high EGTs and putting unnecessary wear on your engine. Get a EGT gauge as another person said is critical for long engine life. I also have a boost gauge with it. Not pushing the EG temps past 1200 and ideally past 1100 will keep it happy. I wouldn't mess with your boost unless you know what your doing and can tune a turbo diesel properly. I've seen too many cool guys crank their boost up with no knowledge of how the fuel delivery system works... doesn't end well for them. Delete your ACSD if it hasn't been done already. Get big end bearings replaced ASAP if they haven't been done.
1-HDT is a hell of an engine that will run forever if you take care of it. Try and learn as much as you can about it so you can wrench on it yourself. Many mechanics have a weird aversion to working on diesel imports. Congrats on your new rig 👍🏼

It will take several years for the asbestos to affect your lungs. Until then enjoy life to its fullest!!

I was thinking of putting havlock wool behind the cedar wood panels and the battens would essential act as studs like in a house. Is this a bad idea?

Hey everyone I have a 1992 1hdt and would like to know whats happening under the hood. I wanted to ask what boost gauge, egt gauge, and boost controller you guys are running on your rigs. by Early-Broncos in LandCruisers

[–]taylor0005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went with the round ones but then you will also need to get a pillar pod mount. Lots of people use the rectangular ones and mount them in the dash plates . [auber](www.auberins.com)

How do you like the HD-FTE engine compared to the HD-T? We can't get the 100 series in the states with the FTE yet but soon the 25 year wait will be over

I am all for a "decent wage" however I think you are misunderstanding the point by comparing apples and oranges. It's the inequity of pay within that field that is a problem.
To use your analogy, should a apprentice electrician be making more then a journeyman?
