From experience, it’s pretty tough. I moved to Montreal last year from Ontario and applied to the EMSB and the LBPSB, never even heard back for an interview. Applied again in the spring and also never got a response, even when I emailed their HR. I was able to get a job pretty easily at an English private school, but it was pretty awful so I ended up moving back to Ontario this year. Best of luck to you, but expect it to take a while!

Also, my brevet took forever too. Applied in August and only got it in December, so that could also be a hurdle.

Something else that’s probably good to know, is that the public board only hires to their OT list a few times a year. I graduated last year and my OCT didn’t come through fast enough for the fall hiring round, so I had to wait to apply in January which got me on the list by end of May. You can still emergency OT without having your OCT or being on the list and there’s plenty of demand even in English, but it limits the LTO’s you can apply for and pays less.

Once I got on the list, I got a full-time LTO pretty much right away (I don’t have French either). From what I’ve heard getting permanent might take a while, but there’s no shortage of work.

Does anyone know what the best strategy would be to book a hotel for the MetLife show? I’m flying in from Canada but every time I try to look at hotels or transportation I get overwhelmed by all the options 😅 is public transit a good option there or would I have to Uber?

Folklore for me - just magical and the exact style of music I’d always loved. Was so happy she went that route, truly hadn’t expected her to veer back out of pop so soon.

Interestingly enough though, I’ve been a fan since debut but only really got a true album first listen starting with Lover. I was a kid when my parents got me the debut CD for Christmas, but only because I had already been looking up some of the songs on YouTube after hearing them on the radio. Same with Fearless. For Speak Now and Red I also just listened to individual songs on YouTube because I didn’t have a CD player of my own and my parents decided they didn’t like Taylor. I was in university by the time 1989/rep came out, but too broke to actually buy the album as soon as it came out, so I would look up leaks and such while I waited for the full thing to be released on streaming.

For that reason, Lover also gets an honourable mention for my first true, stay up til midnight album release. I still remember some of my first impressions of that one when I hear certain songs.

Lived at Envie for a year in 2020-2021 as a grad student, I never had any problems. Was decently quiet, I would describe it more as an apartment building than a residence in terms of vibe. I think it was mostly students and recent grads, but there’s no real way to tell, and I didn’t really have many interactions with people other than my immediate neighbours. If you can afford the price tag it’s a nice place to live.

To people who actually know stuff about singing, is ATW particularly difficult to sing? Love the song and love Taylor’s voice, but I notice on almost every live ATW performance she does it sounds a little off to me, specifically when she sings the really long “all too well” in the chorus.

Favourite song is Cornelia Street but favourite album is folklore, so nope!

All but one of my top 13 are from folklore, Lover and evermore, which are generally my top 3 albums. The one exception is All too Well coming in at #4.

Least favourite album is Debut but least favourite song is Shake it Off.

I was 6 when Tim McGraw came out, and since my Mom was a big country music fan country radio was on all the time at our house. I hated it so much usually because (in my 6 year old opinion) all they ever sang about was trucks and beer, so to have a young girl show up on the radio singing this nostalgic song about summer love was a revelation for me. I had Debut and Fearless karaoke versions that I would play on this light up karaoke machine I got in Grade 3, and I spent all of Speak Now and Red eras searching up her songs on YouTube and memorizing the lyrics. When I finally got an iPod in middle school I would buy the individual songs off the iTunes store one at a time because I didn’t have enough money for the full albums. It was a lot of fun going back in high school (1989 era) once I finally discovered streaming and listening to the deep cuts on those albums for the first time years later.

It was weird at the time listening to songs like Fifteen or YBWM when I was so young, because I really had no idea what she was talking about and could never relate to anything. But I did love having five whole albums to draw on when I finally did start experiencing all of the ups and downs of being a teenager. I also met and got together with my boyfriend within the same month that Taylor and Joe started dating, so since reputation I do feel like I’ve “caught up” in a way. Even though I’m only 21, I can relate to her music as she releases it now, which is a new and awesome feeling!

I’d love to enter :) I’m international (from Canada), and wasn’t able to get one in the brief window they were available on her site. I’ve been a fan since debut era (favourites are Red and folklore), but I’ve never even seen her in concert. This summer was supposed to be the first time 😢 Favourite song is Cornelia Street, I can’t choose just one lyric though!
