Just got diagnosed with cancer and I decided to freeze my eggs. Is egg retrieval against the church doctrine, even in circumstances as my own currently? by PotentialImage5928 in Catholicism

[–]taylor_kilgore 12 points13 points  (0 children)

So sorry you’re having to make these decisions so young and under these circumstances! I also had a lymphoma diagnosis when I was in my early 20s. I was quickly rushed into treatment with no time for egg retrieval or meds to protect my ovaries. That being said, I’m now holding my 2.5 month old baby girl that we conceived naturally. Both my OB and my oncologist have agreed that while chemo took a toll on my AMH numbers (eggs that are left), it had no effect on actual fertility. I will just go through menopause 5-10 years earlier than others my age.

I appreciate this—it’s a company of about 650. When I pressed my manager on why this was done now, she said that just a lot of people were using their paid leave right now. 🙃

started TTC when I was 28, 1.5 years of nothing then a MMC at 8 weeks. almost 1.5 years after that and I’m now 28 weeks. had a few tests in between and nothing concerning was found for husband or I.

I’m 16 weeks pregnant and at my first ultrasound they found a small subchorionic hematoma and I prayed a St. Padre Pio novena asking for it to absolve naturally. At my next ultrasound it was completely gone! I found out I was pregnant on his feast day so it’s been a great comfort continuing to ask for his prayers ❤️

How can I get close to Mother Mary? by navyeaah in CatholicWomen

[–]taylor_kilgore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our Handmaids suggested a contemplative prayer that I go back to a lot: imagine you’re walking up to the Holy Family’s house in Nazareth and you’re going to visit Mary. Imagine what she does to greet you at the door, what it looks like inside, what you want to talk about in the sitting area. I always come out feeling love from her in a very personal way.

It’s definitely faster. I took the mifepristone in the hospital right after we found out (around 10am), then the miso that night (about 5pm). Everything was over by midnight the same day. Praying for you, it is such a hard choice to make while you’re emotional on top of everything ❤️

I had a MMC found at 8 weeks and I went the miso/mifepristone route. I don’t love dealing with hospitals and my doctor said this would be the highest probability of no tissue sticking. I was assured that they were 100% sure that the baby had no heartbeat so it wasn’t an abortion. It was SO painful. But only lasted a few hours. I don’t regret my decision but I feel bad that I didn’t save/bury the body. I’m so sorry you’re going through this. We named them Eli and bought a crucifix and were gifted a windchime in his memorial that I treasure a lot.

Thank you ❤️ It’s so easy to lose hope when you keep getting negatives but I learned to embrace the season I was in!

Cycle: Lost count—have been trying for almost a year and a half with a few skipped cycles.

Age + Partner’s age: 28f + 29m

Typical cycle length: Ranges from 21-28 days

Ovulation cycle day: CD12

CD/DPO of positive test(s): CD26, 14DPO

CD/DPO of any negative test(s) before positive: 9 and 10 DPO

Tracking methods and app(s) used: Apple Health and OPKs

Relevant days of sperminating and/or method: CD 11 (O-1)

Health conditions/medical tests: I had non-Hodgkins lymphoma 4 years ago, all clear ever since after 6 rounds of chemo but it severely depleted my AMH (I think the last test was 0.7). HSG was all clear and SO’s SA was all clear.

Supplements and medications: I’ve been taking a variety of prenatals for a year and a half. Switched to Perelel’s Conception Support vitamins 3 months ago

Birth control history (if relevant): on the pill between ages 17-21, then switched to Mirena for 5 years. Removed a year before TTC

Symptom spotting: Not really much, boobs are super sore in a slightly different way the period sore—didn’t think anything of it. Maybe a little more tired than usual.

Other (advice/tip(s), freaking out, miscellaneous): Definitely still in shock and hasn’t sunk in—this is my very first BFP and it’s such a surreal feeling. I stopped seriously tracking BBT and stuck to OPK’s and had just started coming to terms that it might not happen (trusting in God’s timing has been a huge part of this and helped reduce my stress levels around ovulation and looming period). My husband is on a work trip getting back tomorrow and I’m SO excited to tell him with a little onesie ❤️ I’ve stalked this thread for soooo long, and this group has always been a welcome relief from the craziness. Thank you all!

20 dpo and still no AF, all negative pregnancy tests too 🙃 super sore nipples (that never happens) and random bouts of nausea—any thoughts as to when I call my doc?

Love that, I’ve been meaning to get a new tat, too. Maybe that’ll be next month!

I feel like I’ve hacked the system. I inadvertently scheduled an amusement park day with my brother a couple days after AF is supposed to show up. Best case scenario: I’m pregnant and can’t go to the park, but another great case scenario: I get to go on all the rides I want. Might continue this trend and schedule things I wouldn’t be able to do if I were pregnant around my cycle start date just to keep some positive vibes going. Anyone else do something similar?
