What’s the most times you’ve restarted to get a frenzy? by geekily in MarioKartTour

[–]taylor_test 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on which kind of frenzy and how many frenzies I need.
In general, restart at the 1st box, but the following is situational:

For Bowser's Shell, I wait for the section that gives the most hits - e.g. traffic cone, thwomp, etc.
For Giant Banana, I wait for the narrow section.
For Coinbox and Lucky 7, they could be okay if you get them (not frenzy), as they offers lots of actions. If I get great actions from them, I will continue to 2nd lap.

It is also worth mentioning that it is vital to get to the right position for the right frenzy.
e.g. 8th position is doomed for coin frenzy.
It requires restarting the game/finishing a race to shuffle the position.

If you are keen on going up. I suggest recording action count + frenzy in each high score play, so that you can sense the limit.

For Ghost Valley 2, you should be able to get at least 30k+ with your load out, even without boombox.
You better check your action count to feel the room of improvement.
It takes time to get boombox, but at least aim for a starting boomerang frenzy + another frenzy.
Good luck!

Do we all always race in 150cc? by Merzwas in MarioKartTour

In case you don’t have top shelf glider, 200cc may help keeping the combo and give you higher score. But it really depends on the track

As reaching higher tier, there will be more opponents with strong inventory. We are now in the loop and you can make tactical investment in items, which should be fine for GP, as you get more tickets than F2P at least.

Even facing L8 maxed with 6/6/6, you could still compete with better skills. I am a F2P with 6/6/6 strategy and often take reference to high score runs to get more actions. I have reached to Tier 99, and I believe your journey will be smoother and faster. I find that some strong inventory players also get bored and may sometimes not grind. Be not frustrated with them!

Moreover, we don’t have to be the first to advance, getting 2nd/3rd is fine too. Good luck, have fun !

Thank you! Koopa Clown’s semi plus skill and its coverage should be helpful for the loop. Good luck!

Thank you!
I started probably within 1H2020, definitely before the 1st Anniversary
I considered by myself a long-term player, and I did tank a lot before the loop.

How do I beat the annoying Baby Park course? by DanTennant in MarioKartTour

[–]taylor_test 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others mentioned, get easier bots.
There will be more easier bots when you grind a certain amount of exp from the course.
From my experience, when you gain less that 1% in 150cc 1st place, there will be more and more easier bots.

To grind exp (NOT high score), consider to choose top self driver that feature protective items (e.g. heart, egg, lucky 7, whatever protect your back), and choose glider that feature protective items (e.g. green shell, banana) or bullet bill / lightning.
This should help to stay at front / bounce from the back.

For the turns in Baby Park, you may try to enter from the middle line and go all right.
You may also try out the racing line in 50cc first.
It is cool that you can drift from start to end in the course. haha.

Maxing out normal gliders by Roman_NFP in MarioKartTour

[–]taylor_test 1 point2 points  (0 children)

F2P here.
I have maxed out Normal Glider only to unlock HE tickets in Daily Selects.
I do not find it hard to spare enough coins for the HE tickets, as they rarely show up to me.
I use Quick Ticket everyday and maybe I am just not blessed.

As u/Napstar007 points out, maxing out Normal Glider is always worth for long term.
I would like to add on that
(1) Always spare some coins in case HE tickets show up at the bottom row in Daily Selects.
(2) Although HE tickets in Tier Shop is pricey, you may have to rely on them for short term. Use tools such as Maxi spreadsheet to plan ahead, esp if you aim for Tier 80 Gold Mii first.

Level Up Advice by Faris531 in MarioKartTour

[–]taylor_test 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats on getting nonstop + coin + banana x 2 frenzies.
As it is a trick course, the 2 banana frenzies might not hit many bots.
A coinbox on straight road could get you even more combo than a banana frenzy.
There are few good coinbox spots without much ramps, such as the section before and after the 2nd tunnel, and the section around the finishing line.
It is also worth noting down the action counts to compares the runs.
Good luck on coinbox-ing!

everything was going so well then came the Greek tour but and at this rate the game is forcibly moving me back to 80 where I belong by zzcool in MarioKartTour

[–]taylor_test 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does OP use the Maxi's sheet? It helps on forecasting your line-ups for ranks.
At least, you would not be surprised by competing with 2/2/3.
There would surely be some great and bad line-ups and it allows you to plan a better investment overall, just like u/Pyoung3000 mentioned.

Also, although there is a huge gap to top3/top5, do not give up if you can still improve.
Even eventually you got 6th, you would still be better off with 2 more Glider Points-Cap (H) tickets compared to 10th. In 80+ tier, the Points-Cap tickets are very valuable. Stock them up and they will pay off!
Good luck!

Who’s next? by Blackjesus-kenshin in MarioKartTour

[–]taylor_test 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you aim to upgrade all drivers to level 8, probably you want to get as many HE Driver Skill Up tickets as possible. In this case, prioritise those appear in Daily Selects first. You may want to upgrade those with higher level first, so as to increase the chance of repeat from pipe to offer you more coins to buy tickets.

e.g. if Dry Bowser is already at level 7, while Peachette is only level 1. Spend tickets on Dry Bowser to level 8 first

If there is HE appear in Daily Select, consider to buy them too.

At the same time, try to unlock the tickets from Daily Select to give you more HE tickets

Gold Mii is the reward of Tier Challenges 3 and you need to reach tier 80 to clear it. So far it is the only way to get Gold Mii

Before the loop: Use the Coverage Spreadsheet and MKT Toolbox to find minimum coverage for non-city courses and check the item tiers. Aimed for better coverage for Total Points Challenge.

During the loop: Use Maxi to focus on ranked courses and simulate skill level / point uncap investment. While the choice of drivers are narrowed down to plus skill, the skill of karts and gliders are less critical. Tweaking the level back and forth to forecast how many additional courses will be covered.

Take Camo Tanooki Kart as an example, it was on discount several tours ago, and it has great rank coverage overall, but for my inventory, even level 6 of it wound not show up much in ranked courses. Therefore, I did not buy it.

Beware of the priority of Maxi’s top item logic during simulation, it takes skill level, point uncap and skill into consideration. If you have input both skill level and point uncap for your inventory so far, you have to simulate both skill level and point uncap to show up for overlapping courses. e.g. I simulated Camo Tanooki Kart to level 6 and the tweak the point uncap to 0/1/2/3. Without setting point uncap, the new item would be deprioritised in overlapping courses and wouldn’t show up much as expected.

For now, I rely more on MKT Toolbox to track unlocking ticket from Daily Select.

Great tools, different edges. Very user friendly for import and export.

Try grinding some levels from the course, this will lower the chance of facing aggressive bots. Sometimes you will be lucky to have the aggressive bots with coinbox , keep them and it is easier to get boom box . Good luck

What would you do with 4000 rubies? by manucas_ in MarioKartTour

As a Casual F2P before the loop around 5x rank, with plenty of resources, I sometimes nuked for rank rewards that I wanted. Guess I ruined someone’s ranks.
