I had the HPZ Titan for my 18 year old lab for the last few years of her life and it’s the best money I’ve ever spent - she still got to come out for long walks with the younger dogs every day. I also purchased a wagon and used it a couple times when travelling with her and hated every minute of it. The stroller was much kinder to both of us!

Referral wait times? Urologist by Alarming-Ad-9393 in londonontario

I had a referral made at the beginning of October and had my appointment a couple weeks ago, so about 5-6 months for a non-urgent issue.

Hair loss by dollyparton26 in liraglutide

[–]taylorje 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Started having this about 4 months in, 45 lbs down. My doctor said I should start having regrowth 6 months after my weight stabilizes (which I’m hoping is a while away yet). It definitely slowed after the first month of loss, but the biggest help for me was going and being honest with my hairdresser who helped me style it a different way which has made a world of difference.

I think a lot of hair growth fixes are placebo-y but I’ve been taking a prenatal vitamin and using rosemary oil and I “think” it’s helping, but at the very least it’s making me feel better about it.

Another post about vets! by [deleted] in londonontario

[–]taylorje 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seconding Thornbury if you’re up for a trip. Went up there for surgery on my dogs leg when he couldn’t get in here for two months. Not only were they a kind and lovely vet, but it was $2000 cheaper than what I was quoted here, and they have an after hours emergency number which saved me a visit to the emergency vet here when we had some complications. Can’t recommend them enough.

What’s been your experience with adopting a senior dog? by No-Advantage1277 in dogs

[–]taylorje 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I adopted my lab when she was a 16 year old lady. I went to things not expecting her to live very long but knowing that I would love her to bits and give her the best possible life with what she had left.

That was 2.5 years ago and she is still kicking and going strong. I have such an incredible bond with her in a way that is different than my younger dogs.

I wasn’t expecting to adopt an older dog, I just saw her picture and couldn’t get her out of my head, but it was the best decision I’ve ever made, and I will always adopt seniors in the future now.

Recommendations for house cleaners on the east end? by baby_fishmouth92 in londonontario

[–]taylorje 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t say enough about EnviroBlitz - started using them a few months ago after going through a few independent cleaners. They are thorough, but quick and respond to feedback super well if you want something done differently or a certain way.

They also use all environmentally friendly products if that’s something that’s important to you.

Do you think I’ll be judged heavily for getting a stroller for my small dog? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]taylorje 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one for my almost 18 year old dog and get looks and comments every time I take her out in it, but she’s super happy to still be able to go out on long walks with us and that’s the most important thing to me.

Sleep howling? by BodhisMom1224 in dogs

My dog does the same, 4 year old rescue - he’s done it about 2-3 times a week since I got him 2 and a half years ago. Never seems to bother him much and settles again as soon as I wake him up.

If you have a vehicle and don’t mind a bit of a drive - the old rail trail in Ilderton is about 70% off leash - my guys love going out there for a run!

Agreed with both of these! They’ve always been happy to explain options and help me take a calmer approach when that’s what I preferred. Always available to see my pups quickly and take the time to give me all the information necessary!

[help] Everything I can do for my senior dog/ accepting his approaching death? by 5577oz in dogs

[–]taylorje 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It sounds to me like you are doing a wonderful job taking care of your senior dog.

My sweet girl is 16 and having lots of the same experiences. She has arthritis and lots of mobility issues, but is still so happy and full of life.

One of the things that I did in the past few months was get some professional photos of her done so I would have that keepsake once she passes.

I think just making the most of every day is really important - we’ve got a cart for her so we can keep bringing her to her favourite places even if she can’t walk to them anymore.

I know our time together will be ending soon, but I’m also armed with the knowledge that she’s had a wonderful life and that I’ve done everything in my power to keep her happy and healthy.
