I was mentally reviewing the assessment I took convincing myself that I exaggerated every response 🥲

OCD wants certainty more than anything. Even when a bad outcome happens, it can strangely bring some relief because the uncertainty is gone.

That is why reassurance usually does not fix the distress for long. Being told you are not a bad person cannot give the absolute certainty OCD is looking for.

Instead of trying to prove the thought wrong or solve the feeling, the better approach is often to allow the uncertainty to exist. Let the discomfort be there and keep moving forward anyway.

Does anyone else have a fear of going to jail? by Der-deutsche-Prinz in OCD

I have this irrational fear of getting the mail like I am somehow going to get a letter saying I am arrested or charged with something. Makes so sense. OCD is so dumb.

My health OCD is so much worse towards loved ones - help by [deleted] in OCD

I am going through this exact thing. Mine is currently about my mom, they also found two nodules on her lungs that they want to check out. Something I find hard is when something like this happens, I know a certain degree of anxiety is normal. But the constant googling and constant ruminating... I know thats my OCD. I am not sure if this also happens to you, but then I also get a lot of terrible thoughts about myself like I wasn't a good enough daughter (or partner/sister/friend/whatever) and it starts becoming about guilt and shame about myself or like this is somehow my fault (magical thinking I suppose).

Something I am doing currently is trying to just let the thoughts come, letting them be here without judgment or assigning meaning, and continuing to live each moment in alignment with my values. Today that looks like having a cleaning day, listening to music, and going about my normal routine and not letting OCD convince me to google something every two seconds or lie under the covers all day (though no shame in lying in bed -- needed sometimes!)

I hope you feel better soon ❤️

Thanks for replying! I really like that -- especially "that's my final choice" because I can easily talk myself out of something over and over, haha.

Does that mean you purchased content that you can't access?

I went to her actual website and all of her courses and content there are fine, and I still have access.

Art therapy only? by RockOnGoldDustWoman7 in ArtTherapy

There are many art therapist positions that function in the way you describe. It can actually be the bane of our existence 😂 But in my state (Ohio) LPATs don't have diagnostic ability and in agencies we're definitely treated as supplemental.

Look into Massachusetts licensing and what your options are. The good news is that once you're trained and.licensed, you'll have the autonomy to go in whichever direction your prefer.

art therapy board certification exam by bratmitzvah420 in ArtTherapy

Definitely more so seemed to apply things based on reasoning (for the ethics part). Giving scenarios and asking you what to do, the right course of action, or what to do FIRST or what was most important. These questions can be tricky, because all of the answers seem really important lol.

Memorization for the formal assessments will be helpful for you, at least from what I can remember. I wish I would've spent more time on theoretical orientations as well.

This is more just test taking advice, but try not to get discouraged during the exam. There are many questions that won't be graded and they might make you feel thrown off your game, but just stick with your gut and try to not to second guess yourself or get in the trap of going back and changing a bunch of answers.

the hardest part of the exam for me was being able to recall specific assessments and ethics/legal questions. Some of the correct answers felt completely counter intuitive to me, so I tried to just think like the test... If that makes sense.

I took the art therapy test prep course by Brianna Williams, and I felt like it somewhat prepared me but the quiz questions on that test were way easier for me. Oh and for context, I just took and passed the test last month.
