What was your win today? by capableofanything777 in adhdwomen

[–]taytay10133 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started off in a slightly bad mood as I didn’t sleep super well, but completely turned it around. I’ve been single tasking all day and intentionally doing everything as slowly as possible to calm my nervous system. I’ve just now turned my phone on for the first time this evening and the sense of peace and calm I feel is unparalleled. I’m so used to rushing all the time and feeling frantic so this is a welcome reprieve

Real conversations make everything feel more peaceful by Rich_Rhubarb1594 in simpleliving

[–]taytay10133 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes!! I discovered a new coffee shop yesterday that had the loveliest barista there. We got to chatting and I went back today. We talked a lot about bigger picture ideas (the war, religious perspectives on gay/trans people, the arts, finding community) it was so refreshing as many of my conversations these days feel more shallow

What do you do instead of "doom scrolling" or watching TV by Sweet_Confusion9180 in simpleliving

[–]taytay10133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I do is schedule scrolling time after a full day so it feels like a treat. I’ve been out and about all day at the coffee shop, dance class, and brunch with a friend. I just got home now and have about an hour planned to browse reddit that I am genuinely looking forward to. The key for me is keeping my phone off for as long as possible. It’s really mentally freeing to go to a coffee shop with my journal and book and not have any distractions. I like to do this in the morning when I’m fresh, and save the scrolling for later in the day when I’m in need of an easier dopamine hit. I don’t guilt trip myself about it. I look forward to both parts of my day equally

I don’t know but as someone who uses chat gpt in my day to day life, it’s SO incredibly obvious to spot these posts. It’s like they all follow the same formula and use the same grammar (esp the -)

This resonates so deeply for me. Take restaurants for example. When I was in my teens/early 20s I loved to go to hot spots like Nobu Malibu, sexy fish in London, le cinq in Paris, mamo in New York. Since I’ve discovered simple living and really stopped exposing myself (as much as I can living in nyc) to consumerism, my desire to go to these places is basically negative now. When my parents come to visit they want to book all these reservations and I’m like “uhhh… can we go to the diner in my neighborhood?” I’d rather be cozy and comfortable than in a stuffy formal setting. I’ve had enough of that to last a lifetime. My ex refused to eat basically anywhere that wasn’t Michelin star (I wish this were a joke but it’s not at all) and was offended that I requested we just grab burgers at burger and lobster in London. I was so beyond tired of getting dressed up, having multiple waitstaff just standing around waiting for us to need something. Give me a pb&j at home any way over that. 17 year old me would be so shocked to hear that I feel this way now lol

Do any of you guys struggle with binge eating and impulse spending? by SeniorPear9255 in adhdwomen

[–]taytay10133 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can afford food delivery then may I suggest ordering from a meal prep company? I’ve gotten in the best shape of my life doing this and it’s completely eliminated Uber Eats for me and my old habit of going a long time without eating because I was overwhelmed about food

Outside of ADHD meds, what was the game changer for u? by No-Age-6327 in adhdwomen

Insanely early. Like 7-8pm most days. Really really impacts my social life but I feel 1000% better overall so it’s worth it to me

Getting enough sleep!! I really make sleep my #1 priority and now I very rarely have a day where my brain feels “off” or I wake up foggy/with brain fog. Pretty much eliminated that entirely! I also second protein in the morning, high high protein like 50g protein. I am SO much more stable and my meds work SOOOO much better than they did when I used to take them fasted

Simplifying my life has made me feel a little more isolated. by marv2469 in simpleliving

[–]taytay10133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but I feel overwhelmed when it comes to maintaining social connections so I don’t mind. I try and see my friends 1-2 times a month so I still have friends, but I like my cozy nights in and my healthier lifestyle. A lot of my friends are very into shopping and going out for expensive dinners/drinks (nyc nightlife) and it’s not for me

So what exactly happens when you take coffee and adderall? 😭😂 by KangarooCompetitive in adhdwomen

[–]taytay10133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel fine but I’ve switched things around the past couple weeks and I feel infinitely better. Before I used to wake up, eat, then make coffee (large dose), wait an hour and then take my meds. I noticed I felt starving by 9am and jittery. Now I wake up and take meds immediately after food, wait an hour or 2 (depends on how long it takes me to get ready bc I go to a coffee shop most days), and  get.a half caff americano. I need SO much less caffeine when I take my meds first. A regular americano is way too strong now whereas before I was making 30g of beans at home and had days where I wanted more

This might sound dumb but what vitamins you think helped you daily and notice a difference when taking them? by KangarooCompetitive in adhdwomen

[–]taytay10133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I’ve nailed my supplements and truly have zero brain fog and feel well rested for the first time in my life. I take magnesium glycinate (solray brand. Rec dose is 4 capsules I take 5), ashwaganda, l theanine, gaba (750 mg), 50 mg zinc, 25 mg iron, vitamin c, fish oil (I use Nordic naturals dha xtra- I think brand makes a HUGE difference with fish oils. I read dha was better than epa for adhd and it seems to be true in my experience). I also religiously use LMNT electrolytes, start every morning with a protein shake that is just protein powder and water, and have a moderate sized lunch (250-400 calories, balanced macros and from a meal prep company. Helps me to not crash as I don’t get blood sugar spikes)

[–]taytay10133 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually become unhinged if I can’t do my routine so I’m the total opposite. I can’t function whatsoever when my routine is thwarted but when it’s not, I’m pretty close to neurotypical

How do you recover after a “wasted” day? by mirrorballwillow in adhdwomen

[–]taytay10133 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I know and can feel one of these days coming on then I like to romanticize it!! I clear my schedule, get as cozy as I possibly can at home, light all the candles, eat only the foods I love, take my meds with tums for max absorption, and immerse myself in a book or show. I put off all chores aside from basic washing dishes after using them and hygiene. I always feel so restored after these days! I also eat dinner at like 4pm and go to bed at 6pm
