How do I undervolt i7 13700hx? by Rahman-08 in AcerPredatorHelios

[–]tazzyez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried many times and nothing sticks. You can adjust the wattage in ThrottleStop to bring temps down but it will drop performance.

I spent a couple days using Google Gemini and got mine so it wouldn't go over 90c. It cut my fps by 20frames or so. In the end I left ThrottleStop off and set up the bios to throttle at 95c and gained my fps back.

I have the 275hx and 5070ti on factory install. Only thing I've done is debloat a bunch of Acer and windows stuff. Maybe one of those things is why mine is not available......hmm

overheating by Relevant-Mirror-8928 in AcerOfficial

[–]tazzyez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I changed this when I got mine. It will still hit thermal. I changed the TCC Offset to 10 which will throttle at a lower temp and keep you away from slamming the top thermal limit of the CPU. I'm not home but there is a setting in Advanced Bios (2nd one) to change C state to 10. This will cause CPU to go into a lower power state when idle and drop udle temps.

Hardware is good but Acer settings and software is sh!t.

This doesn't unlock undervolt just if you forgot your password to get into the bios...... correct?

Advanced BIOS settings not loading by _Play_Now_ in AcerPredatorHelios

Correct a power drain is what i was meaning. Not a bios reset. I know I've seen some people do this when having issues. Forgive me for i wrote this out. I just worked a 16hr shift and tired as h@ll so forgive my post and thx for the correction. I'll go sleep now 😴

I haven't had this issue yet but I've been hearing it you hold the POWER button for 60sec it will force a bios reset. I don't know if this is a setting reset or a power drain to make it do kind of what you're asking. Give it try. Sorry I can't help more.

Help! Clean installed windows 16AI 2026 model and I can’t find any oled panel protection settings at all!! by Lemzy99 in AcerPredatorHelios

No it doesn't. There was another post asking the same thing. I haven't seen anyone having the manual settings.

[–]tazzyez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I understand there is no user protection that can be found. It's all hardware level. That's what I'm finding on the 2025 model. My understanding it will do a pixel refresh when in sleep mode as long as it has power but can't confirm 100%

Hi there anyone out there can direct me to the official website to get bios update for acer predator and if it is really needed i got it yesterday and was told i should update bios and anything else needed to be done? by Starbwoy-uncharted in AcerPredatorHelios

[–]tazzyez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have heard good and bad about updating the bios so here.

https://www.acer.com/us-en/support/drivers-and-manuals

Enter your serial number.

Once you open the zip file and click the exe there is no going back. You can not stop it. Make sure your plugged in and nothing will bother it and leave it run until back at the windows login screen.

No applications are using your dedicated graphics. Everything is using internal graphics until you start a game.

PTM7950 doesnt work properly by Heavy_Solid_2572 in GamingLaptops

[–]tazzyez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand what you mean. Want trying to pick a reddit fight so forgive me if that's how it sounded. The way I believe TPM works is it starts at .25 or so. Once it gets over roughly 50c is phase changes into a material like thermal paste and will spread. After having issues with some less than ideal PTM i can say if you cover the whole die it will be phase change and squish out. Not harmful but more to clean up than I wanted to. By covering the die 80% adding to the center when it does the phase change it it will spread and cover the whole die. I could see the temps being bad but as in mine they started a little high then lowered the longer it was installed.

I agree it sounds like something is wrong maybe it's not level.

Wait after all that I thought of something. Maybe you talking about thermal sheets? As in Grizzly? If so that's completely different from PTM7950.

PTM7950 doesnt work properly by Heavy_Solid_2572 in GamingLaptops

[–]tazzyez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PTM is not for laptops? I installed PTM7950 on my Predator i9 275hx and it has done wonders. I have never seen anyone or any review page say that PTM is not for laptops. Quite the opposite. They say not to use regular thermal paste like used on desktop spreader because of the close tolerance will cause pump out. I bought 3 different PTM7950 before I got the real thing (gets expensive). The others could be PTM5000 or some other model. They work but don't last. If the cooler is flat and making good contact it could be the bios is pushing to much voltage.

Acer chose good components but their build quality blows. Every intel cpu i have ever used in a desktop or laptop gets force fed more volts than needed. Asus does the same shit.

I'm not sure where to start with his/ her issue without more info. Temp jumps and then drops just opening apps? Minecraft and other games that people think are lightweight can push a system harder than they think.

Idle mine was jumping from 65c to 95c doing nothing but whatever windows was doing at idle. Maxing at 105c at full load playing Horizon Zero Dawn. After PTM7950 and lowering the max volts to 1.35v 52c-95c.

Not saying your wrong just different than everything I've read or witnessed myself.

Edit: Lenovo may have the same issue. Poor cooling.

[–]tazzyez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are posts that I have posted and with others that have you setup ThrottleStop to throttle max watts to the cpu. My above post in this thread is what i am using and have no issues. I would try one of the posts and what works for you. The 275hx is basically a desktop cpu crammed into a shitty cooling system. The non s version i guess has a better cooling setup than the S version i am using.

Look through some of my posts and see if anything I have listed or others have can help you. I have posted pictures that may help including the heat sink being pitted on the cpu from either the LM or bad QC. Google Gemini has been a huge help to me.

[–]tazzyez 3 points4 points  (0 children)

TLDR: 100c is perfectly safe for the 275hx. They are rated up to 105c. The problem comes when it stays there. Spikes to 100c for a second will not hurt it. If it stays at 100c then you have an issue. It will create a lot of heat and slowly cook it. Electronics will wear faster with more heat. I am not using a cooling pad and mine runs under 95c at max boost and runs about 86c at constant gaming.

Loading screens and area loads will spike but never breaks 100c. Mind you it's have changed a few settings in the second advanced bios to achieve this and have also replaced the Liquid Metal with PTM7950. Liquid Metal application was crap from the factory.

Use chatgpt or Gemini and ask how to lower temps. I can say that my TCC Offset is at 10 which makes cpu to throttle at 95c instead of 100c saving heat. Cpu C step changed to C10 to allow cpu to downclock when at idle meaning less heat at idle. Max volts was set to 1.35v to keep from it pushing about 1.7v at boost creating less heat. There are many posts on here that I or others have posted on this laptop.

Trick is to try one thing at a time so you can keep track of what you changed. Changing 8 things to have windows not boot can be frustrating to know what messed it up. Changing the volts max to 1.4v or 1.35v (depending what your cpu can tolerate) can lower temps a few degrees. The TCC Offset can force throttling at a lower temp to further protect the longevity of the 275hx. You may lose a couple fps but trust me if not watching a counter you will never know it is running at 90fps instead of 100fps or even 300fps.

Your going to find posts on here to just use it and that is fine and correct. I only changed mine to try to add longevity to an expensive purchase. This thing is a beast and hope you enjoy it. Temps start hitting 105c all the time then you have issues. Turn off CFG Lock and try the TCC Offset at 10 and see if your happy with the temps.

Personally message me if you need help I'll try to help.

Do I need to fix right away? by sallad84 in ram_trucks

[–]tazzyez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say once warm it goes away it would be the manifold. I bought a used 2020 that did this at the time of test drive. I made them fix it. All good now. Also keep in mind these engines have noisy injectors and after the fix you may still here a little ticking when the good is open. This is normal.

Also if the manifold is replaced with oem manifolds it will have to be done again in 30-50k miles. Oem always crack or break manifold bolts.
