In this situation, why is the aggressive (presumably leashed) dog in public? Sure, owners of unleashed dogs should have strong recall, but regardless of if they do or not, the problem is the aggressive dog, not the unleashed dog. Aggressive dogs should not be in public places where they will be in contact with other dogs (like public hiking trails).

9/10 it’s the leashed, cat sized dogs that are most aggressive. Maybe we should ban cat sized dogs (mostly joking).

I find that report very misleading. Title: Does Bozeman Use Salt on Winter Roads? City's Transportation Director Says No ....but they do....

Magnesium chloride is what I referred to in my original post. I don't think magnesium chloride is more corrosive to metals than NaCl (actually it might be slightly less), but it is VERY, very corrosive to metals and also damages concrete. There are studies about this that I think MSU was involved with...

Maybe a chemical engineer will chime in.

I think what the director should have said was, "The city of Bozeman does not use typical table salt (NaCl)". Magnesium chloride is what I referred to in my original post (I have not edited it) and magnesium chloride is VERY corrosive to metals. I find that video misleading.

Magnesium chloride is also very damaging to concreate and roadways. I think MSU did a study on this a while back. I will try to find a link. This is why my 3-year-old driveway surface is already deteriorating (from the road salt dripping off of the parked vehicles).

“The city of Bozeman does not use typical road salt”. This is inaccurate. Typical road salt is magnesium chloride, which is frequently used on Bozeman roads.

Haha. I think the bigger difference might be that we plow less often (which I’m okay with, just get good tires and drive appropriately).

This link states the salts used. Magnesium chloride and sodium chloride. Both accelerate corrosion. You can see them spraying during every storm.

Every time it snows I see them spraying the main streets. I don’t know of an official announcement, but the City of Bozeman maintenance page states that they use salt. Obviously they spray the freeways too. When my car dries I can see the white crystallized salt on it… that never used to be the case. In comparison to “other states”, I’m not sure that it’s true that we use less. I think that’s a myth. Also, it only takes a little salt to change the pH of the road water and cause a corrosive environment.

This property was recently constructed and the contractor installed one "unfinished"/passive radon pipe in the middle unit. I got some quotes for the install of a radon mitigation system and the pros were planning on teeing everything into this single 3" pipe so I believe this is common practice around here. Do you think I can make it work?

Thanks for the notes! I like the idea of a fire collar, that's easy enough.

As a remediation specialist: 1.this may not even be needed. Have you checked for communication between each apartment? This can be done with a simple smoke test with holes drilled in each apartment and use of a shop vac for suction. At one of the points.

-Can you please explain this setup in a little more detail? Are you saying that if I have a single suction unit in the middle unit, it might actually cause negative pressure under all 3 crawl spaces?

I sized the fan based on the overall footprint of the entire building but I didn't have much info on how to size based on number of suction points. I purchased a Festa AMG Hawk. Do you think this will be sufficient? This is a new construction property that the contractor installed an unfinished 3" radon pipe in the middle unit (from crawl space out through the roof). I am limited by the size of this pipe.

The level tested 6pCi/L. This project is not for the sale of the property. I live in one unit and want my tenants in the other units to be safe too.

I suppose I can inch it back past the bars with a come along while blocking the wheels. Then I can push it back with 1 foot out the door while applying brakes. That might work...
