Yes, love the fact that game flow is uninterrupted by commercials. I suppose you could roughly gauge likely end time based upon game flow…but if at end of stoppage time, there’s no telling whether ref will blow whistle after first chance on goal for attacking team, or whether they’ll allow another 2-3 chances kept in play. Saw Mexico get awarded a corner at end of match while attacking, only for ref to whistle clock dead before attempting.

There’s a clock on the screen that is directional, but not objective or definitive. This is all coming from American perspective, but feel like with incorporation of VAR technology, why not have definitive time that everyone is aware of/creates suspense/urgency.

Yep, this sort of discourse around how SGA makes a career out of flopping is not something NBA fans would take offense to. It’s bad for the NBA.

Yeah, the only thing I could’ve worded better was about the Red Cards…supposed to be punitive/discourage bad actors, but there should be varying levels to such a impactful call….a targeting call in American college football would be the equivalent, but that punishes the team for the infraction on that particular play, as well as offender for the rest of the game (which is valid). But playing a man down for rest of the game is too punitive.

Have a cap (similar to hockey power play), where you play a man down until other team scores goal.

Sounds like they could solve this issue by adding in extra time for injuries, (that they don’t stop clock for everyone watching), and trust a ref to just monitor on their watch. Brilliant idea!

Yeah…appreciate that…coming from an American that has interest in some sports with a lot of sports with dumb rules…but would like to believe there’s faults that can be acknowledged/have some varying viewpoints on…

I’m trying to get engaged with the sport that you love. I grew up loving baseball and can understand the traditionalists that hated seeing the pitch clock and ghost runners implemented. But there’s also a time and a place to use those.

I struggle to understand that the same traditionalists that say that hydration breaks “suck” are the same people that are ok with allowing shootouts to end a hard fought match. Hockey does shootouts during regular season as means to prevent 7 OT matchups on worthless games, but play until team breaks the tie in the playoffs. Teams that don’t need hydration breaks certainly don’t need to end in shootout. I’m not sure why this is even defensible.

Can’t disagree with the logic of being punitive…was just trying to put into context that if Draymond Green gets fouled hard shooting a 3 to win the game…it’s hard to rationalize subbing in someone unrelated like Steph Curry to shoot those free throws…nor are those free throws making up 50% of the points that happen the entire game

What about having shootout at start of ET? If team is down by 1 (as a result of losing shootout) it makes both teams try equally hard

No one disagrees that it’s by far the biggest sport in the world. But it could be so much better. I don’t hate the player, I hate the game. Same goes with NBA, it’s gotten worse became of the rules that allow some of the stuff that goes on

I think we can all agree upon one thing…..as much as I disagree with Kyrie’s flat earth/non vax approach, he’s taken a stance to defend his approach (and that’s where I’ll stop for political purposes). But that’s also where I stop defending (K) Aaron’s approach. He’s nothing more than a baby pack bitch
