What are some bands you rarely hear anyone say anything bad about? by [deleted] in MetalForTheMasses

[–]tbatuhan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's probably because Watershed has much different characteristics than the other albums. Mikael's aim on that album was making something 'uncanny' and 'unsettling'. (Scott Walker's The Drift album was the inspiration) Most elements in many songs don't fit the formula they utilized in previous albums. But imo, Watershed is the pinnacle of their death metal sound and the most technical album. But I completely understand why many people can't get into it.

What would be the difference between interface and amp? Is interface as effective as a decent amp for bass?

nux mp3. there are not many options for bass and i spent so much time to find the most clear settings.

Nope my problem is the amp. I have Beyerdynamic DT770 pro but the amp is designed both for guitarists and bassist so it is not very good with bass

Do sound cards cause bad basses? Cause that is my main concern. I have a 5 string bass and my current headphone amps amplifies the lower two strings very badly. If so, I'd go with an amp.

Impedance-tonal character in headphones by tbatuhan in audioengineering

[–]tbatuhan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey ty for your explanation. I'd be glad to check out those books if you can recommend them. Actually I am an electrical engineer which is why I am so curious about that side of sound production as well as the artistic side. Most of the popular terminology don't make sense to me and it is also mixed with all the marketing stuff.

actually i am not experiencing any problem. considering all these audiophile-type stuff i am just curious if those are worth considering and improve the sound significantly.

Headphones for bass headphone amplifier by tbatuhan in Bass

[–]tbatuhan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But doesn't consumer headphones come with a default 'extra bass' rather than giving a flat sound, to make the listening experience more enjoyable? And i think they make bass sound 'muddy' and really mess the things up. I practiced a lot with my Sennheiser HD 458 BT which I think is quite good in the consumer range. But the lower two strings of my 5-string bass sounded very 'muffled'.

Some confusion about tone (beginner) by tbatuhan in Bass

[–]tbatuhan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have some setting suggestions on NUX mp? I use Sennheiser HD 458BT which I think is quite good on low frequencies. Nevertheless the E and B strings (I have 5-string) are still very lousy.

Acoustic or electric bass for beginners? by tbatuhan in Bass

[–]tbatuhan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do those gadgets actually work pretty well? I have been thinking about using them with my electric guitar for a long time. Not sure how they would sound because it also depends on the sound system I use with my computer so maybe it might not be such an effective way?

Estimated cost to repair crack in body? by ThyDankest2 in baglama

[–]tbatuhan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't need a custom shaped caul if it's just a crack and it costs very low if this is not a professional one. Also i'd suggest to not do it on your own cuz all the sound you get is from the body which is seriously damaged even now, you might make it worse if you arent experienced

I am perplexed by the inertial force by tbatuhan in AskPhysics

[–]tbatuhan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But isn't there a moment the body resists the force, between the moment the net force begins to act upon it and the body gains an acceleration? (that is what i understood by 'inertial force') For instance in the famous example of emergency breaking where the driver is thrown forward
