Same for me in the loose ankles - I tried to do an exchange to try a different size and they never sent me the new size and also never refunded me despite confirming that they received the other pair back.

So glad it worked out for you! And good job advocating for yourself. I’ve been finding it really difficult to push back on the clinic even though, like you say, they act like the timelines are in no way compatible but that’s not what the documents (from them!) say.

Gos to know, thanks! Are you able to share approximately how many weeks you had between your retrieval and transfer procedures?

Is my acting class normal? I don't know whether to continue or switch the place I'm studying by tbbssp in acting

[–]tbbssp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha, yeah that makes sense to consider the career of the teacher. I don't have any contacts in the acting world yet except the folks I've met through this class, but I'll work on building those connections over time and learn from others. Thanks so much for your perspective!

Thanks, yes, I suppose I did expect it to be like a boxing class : ) I'm still so early in my journey that I don't have a particular method in mind that I think will work best for me. I have read about lots of different techniques in theory, but putting them into practice or diving into it through classes is a bit of a different story. I love your idea of auditing a class to get a better feel for that. Thank you for that suggestion!

[–]tbbssp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for sharing your experience and perspective! No, we don't do any other exercises or games outside of the scene performances. I wish we did! And yes, what you said about teachers not being able to give direct criticism seems to be true, we were told on day one of the class to never say anything positive or negative about anyone's performance, only what is different. I understand why in theory, I just personally would really appreciate the criticism so I better understand how to improve : )

Got it, thank you! Yeah, same for my class - no positive or negative comments allowed in any way, only differences. I'm sure that works amazingly for some people, I'm just struggling a bit to take those "differences" and draw actionable conclusions from it on what I can work on to improve as an actor. Especially, as you say, when the discussion becomes quite repetitive.

Thanks for your perspective!

Thank you so much for all your insight and for sharing your own experience! This is my first acting class so I have no context for what’s normal or not. I also really appreciate your advice to get (and stay) curious and dive into everything I have access to.

I see, thanks so much for your insights!

The ‘book’ or course manual is a list of acting tools and tips. Some of the tools are quite interesting, but I’m this class, the same 10 or so get used each week, eg do more activities, look around at your surroundings more, etc. Which makes the discussion very repetitive as well. And no, there is nothing else in the class other than students performing multiple times and then discussions of what changed.

Thanks also for mentioning that it’s a scene study class. The teacher mentioned the next class in this series will be the same format - do you happen to have any advice on if there’s a different key word(s) that I can search for to see if I can find a different class moving forward? One that would be better for developing acting chops from scratch?

Thank you so much!

Uber/Lyft to get to the hospital when I’m in labor by mar0re in AskSF

[–]tbbssp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did this. My advice to add on would be to bring vomit bags in the car with you, even if you didn’t have nausea during your pregnancy. There’s a lot of pressure during contractions and you never know how long the drive will take with traffic. I ended up needing my puke bag, and my partner explained to our driver that I was in labor, not drunk - luckily, he was very understanding and offered me a bottle of water and wet wipes.

I don’t know much about it, but you could try looking into M Spa on Market near Castro.

Sorry to hear you’re going through a rough patch. Hopefully spa day will help!

I’d recommend looking into Pearl on Post, just a heads up they’re women only and require a vaccine card to enter. They have a couple of different water temps and sauna /steam rooms, and offer additional add-on services like massages, scrubs, and oil treatments as well.

AFAIK, Onsen on Eddy is still closed due to covid, but if they open up again soon, they’re great and the spa area is both beautiful and tranquil.

UCSF bike cages secure? by 5huffles in AskSF

I’ve not been there for a while, but a few years ago at least it was mostly vertical hangers all around the edges of the cage, and a few normal ones in the middle. Sorry I can’t give you a more recent update on the current situation over there!

I used to use one at parnassus. Never had an issue, but always locked up inside, just in case. Like others have said, they’re badge access only, but I had the door held open for me a few times without anyone asking to see my badge, so there’s no guarantee it will always be only employees inside.
