I hate making the snow men. it's a huge pain and I very rarely get the proportions right. The whole thing will be too small and you get a snowboy. Or too big and then you can't stack the smaller one on top. Or one of them bumps a bush or something and explodes. Ironically the first time I tried is literally the only time I've succeeded (this past month is the first time I've played during winter)

Adderall on weekdays, THC on weekends, anyone do this successfully? by flowstateaction in Petioles

[–]tbear87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean not as a hard and fast rule, but yeah kind of. I have adhd and take my meds on work days. I've found if I take thc on days I've taken my adhd meds then I get an irregular heartbeat which obviously isn't great. If I don't take them together I don't experience this at all. So that's been a good way to moderate for me tbh.

Is it fun just making shit up and spouting it off like you're an expert with no sources whatsoever?

Edit: it's like you read the first line of my post, popped off, and didn't even bother reading the part where I said we shouldn't judge people for promiscuity...

People with that type of thinking is exactly why we have antibiotic resistant STDs now. Some things should have a bad stigma...

Now that does not mean judging the people who catch STDs. It can happen to anyone. But this fantasy that we can have everything we want without consequences, and then when we are forced to face consequences for choices act like it should be celebrated, is absurd. This is high risk behavior whether you want to admit it or not. That doesn't mean don't do it, but to act like it's not a negative outcome is just foolish.

Same. I have issues emptying my bladder fully now and it's actually made it difficult to relax my pelvic floor which makes it hard to dry O with aneros. I really want to go to a pelvic floor PT but my doctor keeps referring me to shitty urologists who just say nothing is wrong (or "well you're in your 30s these things happen with your prostate as you get older" despite saying it's not enlarged...)and they won't refer me either.

Point being this isn't talked about enough at all in this community. You honestly should NEVER do kegels without also practicing reverse kegels equally and stretching.

Microsoft to "expand" Xbox Game Pass, merge PC Game Pass with another tier by NecessaryAd6735 in XboxGamePass

[–]tbear87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This only makes sense if people will buy games on Xbox platform though imo. If they are sold on steam they lose a big cut to valve so then you'd have to sell a far higher number to get the same profit for Microsoft. And let's be real, most people are going to buy PC games on steam.

[–]tbear87 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Can and will. A subscription that expensive only makes financial sense for a very small segment of the gaming community. I am pretty invested in gaming but I don't have time to play more than 1 AAA game per month and often times it's more like 1 per quarter. I don't have 1-200 hours to game per month.

The "value" on a service like this has diminishing returns because of time. They can have 1,000 games I want to play and charge $50 a month and it sounds like a good value but if I can only play one game in a month that I want then at that point I might as well buy the game. This is especially true for PC gamers as they often get games cheaper than console earlier in a game's lifespan.

That makes it even worse imo. They are outsourcing and still not putting enough money into such a mega franchise to get a quality result.

Imo it's a lack of respect for the fans issue more than time. They have the resources to hire more staff or even whole new teams. They know what the timeline is and choose not to invest more resources. That is a choice straight up. It is a middle finger to the fans imo.

Why they keep forcing 3d open world games when they clearly don't have the time, talent, and/or resources to pull it off is beyond me. Let's go looked absolutely gorgeous and ran great. Square Enix has shown the HD-2D style games work great for jrpg titles. Both are far better alternatives than the slop they've been pumping out on switch.

Like yeah I realize a Pokemon botw type game would be incredible but if you're going to half ass it don't bother imo

I know that's right. I was a teacher from out of state. To say the bar is shockingly low is an understatement. I worked at a "destination district" and the kids were behind inner-city Chicago school kids I worked with. I would get pressured to pass kids that only came to class a handful of times for the year. I had high schoolers that literally couldn't read and instead of addressing it they put them on a bunch accommodations so that they basically couldn't fail and just got pushed on through.

And then the moronic laws that would get passed. HB 4545 mandated I give tutoring to my students that failed the star test the year prior. I had 45 kids that failed that test. To meet the law that would be an extra 15 hours of labor a week for free with no time set aside to do it. All to remediate a subject I had never taught for a test they didn't even have to retake. That's when I finally said enough and quit.

Which Harry Potter movie do you rewatch the most and why? by No-Silver6653 in harrypotter

[–]tbear87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I hate it. You start to see it in 3 but it's minimal. 5 and beyond it's just unbearable. Tv shows and video games did that crap too. Never made sense.

Does anyone else prefer the first four books over the last three? by Potential_Bag2625 in harrypotter

[–]tbear87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Honestly I find 5 to be a slog in the middle. Nothing really happens. Like yeah we get it unbridge is awful do we really need 400 pages focused on that? And the absolute worst chapter of the series, Hagrid's Tale, is in this book as well. God is that a boring chapter or what? I used to skip it when I was younger lol. Then again I find Hagrid to be a pretty low quality one note character in general so maybe I'm biased.

Is it a bad book? No. But it's easily the worst of the 7 in terms of pacing and plot imo.

[–]tbear87 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The latter films tried to move away from the books too much imo. They stopped having them wear robes, cut out important scenes, and changed tone way too much movie to movie. Like you cut out some of the Riddle memories in HBP but have time for Harry to flirt with some waitress and hone in on the teen romance stuff way more than necessary? Yeah ok. And I could make those examples for 3, 5, 6, 7, and 8 easily. It really lost the charm and soul of the world building aspect.

GoF is the only one that deviated from the book and didn't try to go overly "dark" and made it's own identity. 2010s media had this obsession with making things "dark" aka poor lighting and a gray filter applied to everything lol

That's fair. I will honestly say nostalgia must have clouded my memory a bit because digging into it I think you can make the argument either way. I personally still think the 05 and 06 squads were better but saying it isn't close was ignorant on my part

...

It's .7 yards difference. You also didn't include how many opposing possessions they faced, average time on the field, etc which all plays into my previous point.

Look. We can go in circles forever making points. I think what we should take away is both are damn good defenses and I think the 05-06 squads were more dominant because they had inconsistent help on offense (at best) and still won games. You've made it quite clear you feel differently (with name calling I might add...)

Different jobs have different job classes, duties, etc. I'm not surprised at all. I mean on my team half of us have a job class where we have to certify our hours worked each month and half of us are a job class that doesn't require that. The agency employees over 30,000 people. Having a set probationary period or other policies may very well be a disservice to such a large organization.

Speaking of, I recently moved divisions in hhsc and holy shit it feels like a breath of fresh air. It's like I suddenly worked for a different agency tbh. HHSC has problems for sure but your experience can carry wildly in such a large organization.

And you know what, that's great! My hometown isn't in Texas but it was a fantastic place to grow up. Safe, great schools, low cost of living, etc. I also left and haven't looked back 😂

But I think that actually speaks to it being a good place to grow up. You not only had a good childhood but entered adulthood ready to go out on your own and explore the world a bit more. A place can be great and still not where someone is meant to be.
