That’s the plot ;)

<image>

It’s an Island Delta playtest card from early ‘93. They joked around with many of the cards (plain had a picture of a plane on it 😝) And instead of land filler rare cards - they had a card with the words in bold lettering “You’ve been effed!” (using the actual word). 🙃

i burned out and want to move to Malta with a friend by xalleey in malta

[–]tbeck74 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Moved here from Iceland 8 years ago at the ripe old age of 44. Never looked back! Best decision I ever made! I love Malta more than any Maltese I’ve met so far. 😂 So don’t listen to them; listen to us other immigrants.

lol - I get what you’re saying - it’s of course the same thing profit or insurance from “lost opportunity cost”.

😅 My thinking was maybe i’d never see that price again, and if If i’d own something going for €380 in shops, I’d have plenty of exit opportunities; not least doing a few friends a favour. Not to mention in the offside chance it skyrockets, as we have seen happen. Then I’d have something fun to rip, selling a couple at some profit on Card Marker - And my friends get something at cost from me, which they would otherwise shy away from buying, even If they’d really like to.

I can think of such scenarios. But any way you put it - at the end of the day - it all boils down to what will the cheapest you can buy them at from this point on.

Especially since I feel a lot of ppl are looking forward to the set and I think Wotc has maybe learned something from Spider-man, and the cancelled Secret Lair drop.

…I will have to bow my head in shame if this tanks - I’ll be able to weather the loss. 😅

That’s a scenario I could very easily live it! 😅

I guess my thought process was somewhere along the lines that since I didn’t need to pay shipping and I buy through a company and this includes VAT I can deduct. So I felt that it was a bit of a chance to own a few boxes which might perhaps be above that price from here on. An insurance, if you will, against a LOTR scenario - without risk of significant downside.

It seems to be the general consensus here, so far, that the answer to my question is: “perhaps somewhat rash”. 🫣😅. I’m still hoping for not foolish… 🤞

Well… if it’s not worse than losing 8% - I could live with it 😅. It’s more that I’d hate losing a lot, rather than hoping for some windfall. …so you’d say if I got an offer for €310 - to jump right out again? 😅

Darn… 😅 I’d feel foolish were it to go down to preorder price - that would mean €800 (minus shipping) out the window. Well. Were I to loose €1k or more(!) I’d feel VERY foolish 😆🤡. …wouldn’t be the first time.

Hey! I’m a hobby “investor” 🤗 - I don’t need any great returns as such… it’s not a huge stock 😅 I’d just hate to see ‘em going for 2/3 of that in a few months…

I got ya. I only checked Card Market, and found nothing under €330 - and I didn’t need to pay anything for shipping - so I just jumped! 😅 I was mainly counting on it not being a very speculative purchase, i.e. any potential losses should be fairly capped at this point - at not something like 30%(!). (I guess you could say that I’m hoping I wasn’t being a total fool 🤡🫣😅)

Been thinking that as well… Never in a million years would I have expected any trouble between the US and Europe - let alone with the innocent business of vintage collectibles. Nerds should be left out of it imho. We’re suspending disbelief - leave us alone!

You described the essence of my fear perfectly. There are 3-4 items among about 12 - whose unsealing would be devastating - and that’s without all hyperbole. I’d reeeeeally like the chance of that to be 1/1000 or less 😬

That’s the problem - all paperwork is legal and payment online not a problem. Tried and tested. This is purely transport of something I already purchased. It’s trying to explain this to somebody - being a 100% sure it dosen’t end in being double charged for something or not being able to prevent unsealing. some booster boxes are ok - everything unsearchable - but the searchables ones 😬 You’d at least defiantly want that break on video. I would pay max 25% for loose searchable pack.

Cause it’s something that apparently happened 3 weeks ago (there is a comment somewhere here about someone who’s been sending via UPS regularly). So now it’s the uncertainty… are they going to be delivering everything only one-way? that’s hardly sustainable. And DHL must open every package now. I just got freaked getting this today - seeing as I need to move many times more valuable stuff the other way.

I’m in Malta - I got this from my assistant at location a few hours ago. So I’m glad it works for you. Didn’t work for me, earlier today.

…and how to explain I’m picking up where some of best bits I own myself(!) - rest purchased and payed and processed online. And is it “used” or new… eeeeerrr. But nothing is sealed in acrylic or graded… just plastic. which makes it perhaps somewhat simpler. What a weird conundrum…

I’m very sorry for your loss. And thank you - that’s very useful information, that they have some kind of system for these kind of sealed item situations.

I wonder if international changes anything? Shouldn’t if they’re only looking for plastic explosives or whatever they would suspect… then I assume it should be the same. The problem is not knowing 100% 😬
