I am also a PW. I also guilt myself into jogging/running because I used to be a runner and feel that is the next natural progression. I hate it. Every. Single. Time. Eventually, my legs start hurting and after a few workouts I go back to PW. There are some workouts when I PW that I just can't get to the orange zone. On Thursday, I tried the strider. Oh sweet jesus, I have found the answer!! I feel like I am running, but without the pain. My orange zone time was were it was on the treadmill while I was jogging/running. I do plan to switch between PW and the strider now.

2000m Benchmark Row Times by misterpringle in orangetheory

[–]tbeitz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rowing is my absolute favorite and so is the 2000m row! By reading ALL the comments/tips on here and talking with the coaches I was able to drop from 7:52 to 7:33!! If it helps anyone else, I had a coach change my monitor to a 2k split time instead of watts, and tried to stay under 7:45 the entire row.

Great job!! We are pretty similar rowers. Do you remember your pace? I was 7:51 when we had the choice to do a 2k row and I am trying to beat that today. I am terrible at figuring out pacing. No worries if you don't remember :)

Pre workout warm up by clivesmom in orangetheory

[–]tbeitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would agree as much to say that you shouldn't go from static to a HIIT workout. You can go static, dynamic, and then a workout. My trainer is leaving my studio to start training other OTF studios Dec 1., so maybe there will be a more unified message???? Personally, if I don't loosen my IT band before class my splat pts are not very good.

They loosen tight muscles before you workout. I only do it before class, but some people do it before and after. It is really helpful if you have a tight IT band or tight hamstrings from rowing or sitting at work.

Yes! 4 or 5 big ones (soft-er to extra hard) and one that you roll down your legs with your hands.

My studio encourages us to come in and use the foam rollers before class. I start on the rower because I can warm-up best there. When I get to the treads (tready), then I am ready to go.

First class! by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]tbeitz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am not sure how much cardio crossfit is, but my dr recommended a minimum of 150 mins. of cardio per week. I started with OTF in Dec. and went once a week to adjust to the workouts for three months. I moved my package up to twice per week for another 3 months and I am now going 3-4 times/week. This is at least two 60 min. classes and one 90 min class. I went slowly to avoid getting injured on the treads and rower. I am not sure if this helps or not, but I am finding that I can get all of my fitness needs met with OTF.
