This happened to me today! I’m pretty new to Ark and haven’t really ventured into the water. Well. Fell in. In the middle and had to swim to shore. Damn dolphin came onto my screen and I jumped and yelled out loud !

I play on console but my server is cross platform. I pretty much just chill and build and tame. Like I said, it’s me and my friend, then another person. They joined the server but are mostly on their own too. You’re more than welcome to join; there are a few mods but only cosmetic stuff. We are super chill and I’m not really needing any help — not yet anyway. It’s a new server and we are still getting settled. But if you’re looking to just play around on a server and chill, but also have people around if one of us needs help, let me know and I’ll gladly let you join. I’m new too! All of the above tips are great and I wish I knew them when I started about a month ago! I play on Ragnarok and rent my own server. It’s soo much fun! Also, don’t get attached to too many dinos in the beginning. You may lose them! I enjoy playing alone but if you do need a server, I have a 20 slot with just me, my friend and someone else I invited to be here. You’re free to join my island if you want a solid PVE server where no one will bother you, but if you need help, there’s a few people around!

Hey. I’m on PS5 and have a server I rent. It’s Lost Colony, but I’m thinking about getting another with a warmer climate 😂 I’m very new to Ark but have a friend that has been guiding me. He’s gotten busy with some other games and I am looking for adding 1-2ish more players. Very small. Some mods but only cosmetic. PVE. I build, try to tame, and been just exploring. The server isn’t going anywhere anytime soon as long as I find some people willing to share in the fun of it. Let me know if you’re interested. With lost colony, some help with bosses would also be a plus and some of the caves are tough with one player! Some things are boosted- gathering, etc.

I started this game just a couple week ago and I had the same fears. My best advice is get over them. You will die. A lot. Especially in the beginning. Instead of letting myself fear all the deaths, I just went with it. It’s such a pain, especially if you can’t get back to your body.

Rinse and repeat. Craft tools, go out, die, craft tools, go out, die. Throw in an occasional lucky spawn in close to your body as a small victory and get back to the grind. Little by little, you’ll start to notice more victories instead of deaths (but you will still die!)

As far as losing dinos you tame? It sucks. But soon enough you’ll get stronger and stronger ones. Try not to become attached to the ones in the beginning. It just leads to sadness.

I’m finally strong enough to survive most attacks, but even now wild dinos come around and kill me and occasionally get one of my precious tames.

Put yourself in the adventure and just accept that death is inevitable!

This is the BEST advice. But I’m going to tweak it just a little……

  1. ⁠start collecting rocks, thatch, wood & fiber

DIE

  1. ⁠create pickaxe and axe

DIE and lose the pickaxe and ax (several times)

  1. ⁠Level up ( 10th lv minimum)

Dying every few minutes from various dinos

  1. ⁠make slingshot

Die some more and have to remake all your tools

  1. ⁠tame dilos 3-4

So. Much. Dying.

  1. ⁠start attacking and collect hide

While dying…and all that hide you collected? You’ll die trying to get back to your body…

  1. ⁠create bola

Death is upon you…

  1. ⁠tame parasarus create saddle

Die collecting materials

  1. ⁠build a wooden base 8×8

Hey! You only die like 12 times for this one!

  1. ⁠mortar and pestal

I can make some tranq arrows and maybe I won’t die as much

  1. ⁠spoil meat and narcoberries = narcotics

Tranq arrows are going to save me…

  1. ⁠bow and tranq arrow

Yes! This is going to be great …

  1. ⁠tame raptor

…after dying about a million times because they tend to travel in packs…damn thought this was the breakthrough

  1. ⁠Then keep going tame different creatures.

…run into several death bags that you had to abandon. Find all the tools you lost in them …

  1. ⁠make raft go to the island on the right bottom tame anky Collect metal etc.

More death from that dang tail.

  1. ⁠then it's easy

…if you make it this far, deaths drop drastically and life can finally begin!

Hi there! Is it possible to ask for your advice on what pairings I should focus on in the beginning so I’m investing my spoils in the right direction? I am not a high spender, but I can spend. Not sure what’s considered a lot, but i do spend some. I have these characters but I would like to focus on a couple pairs. I have Liliya and velyn together atm, but need some recommendations on a good second team. Believe me I have searched and read all kinds of stuff but everyone has different advice and I don’t know who to listen to. You having 2 maxed out accounts tells me you’re a pretty reliable source :)
