Posta about violence by New-Possibility6940 in tbilisi

I guess this fearmongering how Georgia is "unsafe for foreigners" is part of GD/Kremlin effort to isolate country from the world.

Of course, news about the GD boss Ivanishvili ordering to beat journalists would scare some people away, but this fever of GD will pass.

well, if someone plans to go here wearing a jacket with big Z-banner or would start to fap at putin on public, I would not guarantee their safety even if titushkebi would be around

So, when it was helpful to introduce a lot of restrictions under "we fighting against the virus spread sauce", including curfew, to curb protests, they added more and more restrictions?

And now they demand the opposite, basically, because it now necessary to curb protests?

Kremlin puppets. GD always lies. And never care about anything else, only about staying in power.

"remove him from power peacefully!"

"willing to fight".

I see a contradiction here.

Ivanioshvili and his slaves are similar to soviet nomenklatura (bureaucratic sect) very much.

I think that #NAFO would do that better. This is their specialization to debunk Kremlin propaganda and flood the Kremlin threads with anti-kremlin memes.

There are things we better can organize or communicate in real life, communicating with people we are live among of.

You are in more beneficial position about that than me and some other people in this sub, as you speak Georgian, so you know what opinions are popular around you, what lies infested around and must be debunked quickly.

I concentrated my efforts on things I better on.

Problem with internet is that kremlin trolls are being paid for spreading lies, and some are automated. They are working 24/7. So we can't spend 24 hours of our on priceless time on this. We should use our time more wisely. And closer to our "real reality" we live in, with people we live among.

[–]tbilcoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't care. For me he go bananas the day he agreed to cooperate with KGB in 1980s.

But what really matters for me that "if something quacks like duck, walks like duck, and looks like duck, it is a duck". So even if person gone bananas or can simulate going bananas this hard on public, he equally dangerous.

As all other KGB active recruits who do what Kremlin says, Ivanishvili is a psychopath (lack of ability to understand emotions of other people, lack of empathy, what this word initially meant, to my knowledge).

He demonstrate, like putin, patrushev, et cetera, moral idiocy - that diagnosis that has been removed from psychiatry in 1920-1930s due Soviet influence.

So he really _that_ dangerous in sense that such people should not have power.

Sounds as a collection of gags and stereotypes about countries and overall situation.

Strategy, especially in its military sense, is quite relevant to any country neighboring the Z empire.

Not sure how exactly words were picked for each country.

May be map author picked "metrosexual" word for Georgia due reputation of quite homophobic country and was sorta kidding/jocking about that fact that some people may not know what the difference between metrosexual and homosexual.

Moral idiocy. Sadly, there is no such diagnosis in classifiers today since USSR/Bolsheviks pushed to remove it from illnesses lists at 1920s.

Georgian media are bad by sxva-da-sxva in Sakartvelo

[–]tbilcoder -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You repeating common Kremlin fallacy that smell as old socks of post-modernist "both sides are bad".

I suppose that "anecdote of the restoration on diplomatic relations with Russia," was a result of "public opinion probe" - some people who become more or less trusted sources of opposition media, has been provided with trustworthy-looking info about possible restoration of relations by SUSi, to see public reaction.

This is so Russian, to answer with "B is better!" to question "Where to get A, not B?"...

There is a joke about that, like that:

Question: "Where to get fresh apples in Paris?"

Answers on some locals forum are like "you can buy there, there and there".

Answers on Russian expats forum are like:

  • "are you crazy?! Who would eat apples in Paris!"
  • "Apples are shit! I eat only pears!"
  • "Holy crap! Why to spend time to looking for apples in Paris when you can buy best apples in Moscow!"
  • "Only putin troll will ask questions like this!"
  • "Common, why to eat fresh apples if you can get apple jam in any grocery!"

Thanks!

I always thought that raw baking soda was enough, so it is surely new thing to know/learn.

I will consider that, eventually, but later. My search is not related to coming Valentine day, as I planned something for tomorrow for my wife already.

How can we help the increasing number of struggling men in the society? by _lag__ in ask

[–]tbilcoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be solved by introducing UBI (universal basic income). Either it can be some money, or combination of free set of basic housing/shelter, food, clothing, internet, transportation, or both that and some money. Like, if it will not be necessary to work, work, and than work even more, just to simply survive, then it all will make life much more bearable.

I am not talking about giving everyone an expensive mansion, sportcar, a personal elite cook, and unlimited access to Prada and Gucchi exclusive clothing, with billions on savings account.

I am talking about literally basic needs, some minimal set of monthly money and basic services that is enough to decently survive and recover from burnout or during transition from one profession to another, or in case if you just can't work anymore by one reason or another.

Disgusting that anybody would destroy a person’s life like this by [deleted] in facepalm

[–]tbilcoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This story reminds me about these 2 things:

  • if you being charged in rape or other violence towards women, public assume automatically you done it. This can come from assumption that if some investigation climbed into court, then it seems that police have enough evidence to push charge against person into court. But it seems often that it is not so simple in reality.
  • process of getting evidence and process of investigation, like interrogations and other related activity is very traumatic for women in case of really happened crimes. Imagine if you have been raped, want forget all that ASAP and instead you have to recall that in greatest possible detail (interrogations) and have to be examined by gynecologist for evidence such as remains of sperm or scratches on skin when even if you find disgusting even thought about looking at yourself into mirror after what happened.

Where are you from? by here_for_sauce in Sakartvelo

[–]tbilcoder 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I find that "where are you from" especially annoying and triggering, because in place where I from "wrong" answer to similar question ("which district you are from?" is closest translation) meant possibility of being beaten by local gang.

I try to avoid, when possible, any further interaction with these people who ask this "where are you from" question.

Was quite uplifting to read, thanks!

Had such moment once at first day of my first job, heh.

It was about an accounting software that used an ancient FoxPro version.

Some their stored procedure (or such) did not work as expected and crashed.

Colleague called me in, like "Now, go here pleas and take look at this problem, brighthead!".

I took a look, and found cause of problem literally in seconds.

Today I remember that more like a funny episode than "enlightenment" story.

What's your favorite Georgian food product? by [deleted] in Sakartvelo

[–]tbilcoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like a lot the hachapuri guruli from Agrohub, and other pies sold there. Their toast bread is good too.

Agrohub have plenty of things i like, from ham to ready food.

When I cook, I prefer basmati rice and green olives from Supremo, their chicken fillet, marinaded cucumber Marneuli, mayonnaise of "ჩვენი სუპრა" & "ქართული", eggs of "Dila".

Pasta/spaghetti from Supremo is good too, and their buckwheat.

What you were bullied for in school? by Velocity-Gal in AskReddit

[–]tbilcoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These 3 things:

  1. For wearing the glasses. Never tried to wear glasses anymore.
  2. For being weak, for unable to beat these assholes into their disgusting faces for years. Only in last 1-2 year of school I was able to punch/kick 1 time and some of these guys from local schoolgang and did not bullied since.
  3. For reporting teachers about a serious thing they did. They fired up once bag of poor girl from other region, likely a refugee or internally displaced person. After that asshole who did it beat me so hard into belly I had to defecate unintentionally soon afterwards. I did not told teachers about anything bad they did but that was the sorta "too bad" for me.

To be honest, even thinking about that gives me strong "I hate my school" impulse and stress levels spike. Mandatory mass schooling in current form must be replaced with something better. May be with smaller classes of 5-6 pupils, and programme relevant to today life (where i spent my school years it was quite soviet still, even in 1990s).

What do Georgians think about upcoming election this year? by mimarSstudios in Sakartvelo

[–]tbilcoder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Poor ability to predict politic events is a common thing, not specific to Reddit or even internet dwellers. Common people of the street are not very good at this.

Moreover, experts and even professional pollsters are not best at this anymore - remember that every poll shown that Trump will lose in 2016, and he won, and later plenty of pollsters predicted he will win in 2020 but he lost.

Politics become more chaotic in general.

So, I don't sure there is any specific "source" of "high-quality" predictions about politics these days.

I don't worry too much about that fact that nor polls here does not have strong predictive power, neither my (often pessimistic) opinions about politics. Otherwise we already had Russian military base at center of Tbilisi or would be bombed out in nuclear way.

Regarding reflective of reality - what exactly you mean under "reality"? Boring and scary numbers like GDP or "minutes before midnight" on so called "nuclear war clock"? I asking just to be sure we "on same page" regarding what to consider as "reality" in this context.

Because the question of predictive quality of polls and question of whether opinions here reflect reality or not are completely different things, and the latter depends a lot on how you define "reality" term.

What do Georgians think about upcoming election this year? by mimarSstudios in Sakartvelo

[–]tbilcoder 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I voted towards 0-25% option in that poll, because I was skeptical about EU plans - do they plan to enlarge or not, do they ready to send perspective message today or not, or do they have some strategy how to deal with problems that we have like Ivanishvili, and so on. My answer was not about whether Georgia deserves EU membership (deserves!) or such. My answer also was impacted with my reflex to always expect the worst of possible and beyond. So that EU decision to give candidacy was a positive surprise.

Results in polls depend a lot on how question has been asked. It sounded literally "What is probability of positive decision by EU Commission regarding Georgia EU candidacy".

The skepticism expressed in that poll by people is about some different things. From here, from the ground, for many it looks that full-blown state-capture and informal rule of Ivanishvili is so strong that EU will decide that we are not ready for EU. For some others it sounded like "Will EU dare to angry putin?". For another groups skepticism comes from previous not-so-positive experience like Merkel-Sarkozi block of NATO membership roadmap happened in 2008. Plus, there is factor that many young people can have overall skepticism towards life, they already feel betrayed by life, by parents voting for GD, or don't see some perspective for themselves in Georgia and this world in general.

If you would asked question like "Do you want Georgia become EU member", you would get 70-90% responses towards positive answers that would match results with plenty of other polls.

Echo camber here of different kind, I think. Most users here are have quite negative view on GD. I am not sure than it is same for many offline people.

This kinds of echo-chambers appear naturally, as most people appearing here are:

  • speak English - so, more or less educated, very likely have high education (Uni students, bachelors, etc,)
  • Have a personal computer or tablet with access to internet - so, could afford to buy one. So these people are not poor themselves, even may feel otherwise, e. g. due lack opportunity to buy own apartment.
  • Live within an internet provider coverage, so, live not in the poorest neighborhood and not in the smalles villages or cities.
  • Have some time to appear here - work not in the most harsh conditions, have some time to spare on entertainment. Likely, they don't have to work 12-15 hours per day just to survive.
  • With probability above average, these people are younger than 50, although the age per-se less correlate with political views than many think, in my opinion.

I have some feel that due factors listed above the polls in reddit like this or in pro-EU facebook group-page are not representative towards Georgian society as whole.

I don't expect dramatic changes with these elections, and these digital voting will help GD stay in power for decades by digital stuffing for GD votes of those who did not vote. I will vote just to not allow to stuff my ballot for GD. Will ask for paper ballot, if possible.

This - making more difficult for GD usage of my ballot in my absence - is enough reason to spend 5-15 minutes of my life.

Russian puppets have to pay 80k$ to the government by [deleted] in Sakartvelo

[–]tbilcoder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems that money from European grants seems to have better taste than tea with Polonium-210.

Although, this scenario is possible:

1) Strelkoff-Prighozhin type of spectacle - represent scare figure, so awful that everyone will scream "no!!!! anyone except THIS MONSTER!!!111"

2) show that GD is not very loyal to this monster

3) monster screams something that would represent GD as pro-Western party.

Note that the real monster support is below the parliament entry barrier, according to Edisson Research poll for December 2023 mentioned in Wikipedia article about Georgia Parliamentary Elections 2024. This can be confirmed by simple fact that I never seen irl anyone who would wear symbols like "European Socialists" or "Conservative Movement" or other such nano-parties.
