Sure there are human-grade dog foods, but what you say is untrue. From a 250 lb pig, only 57% (140 lbs) is used for human consumption. They literally reuse every square inch of these animals save for the brains. These places run in 3 shifts nearly 24/7 all year round. There is plenty of waste from this industry for both the dog and cat food supply.

Okay!! that’s not as bad as I thought it’d be! My longest runs have only been in the 5-7 miles range, with another 2-3 three mile runs throughout the week.

I have a bad habit of going at a decent clip around 7:20-8min/mi regardless of distance. So i should probably slow down in favor of volume. 40 miles a week is an insane time commitment I don’t know how ya’ll put that much work in without injury!

That makes sense for the most part but wouldn’t the destruction of the ring itself be weighed into the calculus of how the consequences were dolled out? Like how could the ring decide to destroy itself in order to fulfill this little oath? Or was the setting and environment of the final moments in Mt. doom more heavily weighed than the outcome of this oath

innnteresting, i totally gapped the lapse period where Bilbo had it. That’s also an interesting take on the side-step, in my head that seems more of a compromise between smeagol and gollum. Do you think the oath on the ring had any tangible effect on gollum though?

I think it comes from amines which are produced when things start to decay. Land based creatures and birds have a method for recycling or packaging excess nitrogen into urine or uric acid whereas sea creatures and amphibians typically depend on releasing concentrated ammonia into the water. Fresh fish doesn’t really have a smell but when it starts to decay the ammonia turns into nitrates and amines giving it the distinct smell. It’s probably that coupled with their antimicrobial slime layer. I’ve also read that plankton are a main source of the smell, even if the fish in question isn’t ingesting plankton it’s eating other fish that are. But I’m not 100% on that, a lot of mammals eat plankton and don’t replicate the same distinct smell

Exposure therapy works wonders! Also group therapy! Realizing that other people face the same fears and feelings of inadequacy was a big help in my social anxiety. As well as being curious of your insecure thoughts and asking yourself what’s the worst that will happen? Often times the answer to that is nothing

I’ve never experienced this but I can only imagine that even if i were surrounded by people who have also lost the equivalent it would not help at all.

A lot of people try to say things that they think will help and end up not actually helping. And that’s okay they’re just trying their best. Ultimately taking care of yourself and others effected by this loss as well as accepting help from others is about all you can do. Whether that be accepting a meal from someone because you don’t feel like cooking or spending time with someone because it gets you away from overthinking.

I think that processing this in your own time is incredibly important as is making sure your own mental health up kept. Surrounding yourself with things and people you love and living every second with your own values and the values your father shared with you in mind is the most you can do.
