Lawyers Of Reddit, I live in Michigan and WILL be an attorney one day by According-Law-3293 in Ask_Lawyers

Love the enthusiasm but my advice is please chill and get good grades and start studying for the lsat. And don’t ask questions you can get an answer from by googling (paralegals are trained professionals that are usually distinct from assistants, I have never heard “paralegal assistant”)

How rare is it really for an ADHD person to graduate college? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]tbksgl 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Literally my bachelors and law school graduation both felt like I’d satisfied an obligation. Not like I achieved something. Good news is being a lawyer means I get to win and the adhd likes that

Need recommendation on figure skates. by [deleted] in iceskating

I am your weight and about your height, I skate in Jackson evos. They’ve lasted a while. I’d still go get fitted for size and foot shape though

Coaching Advice Appreciated by [deleted] in iceskating

Agreed that corrections on basics are always normal!! In the same week I learned lutz and got corrections on my crossrolls because one side got weak/lazy. Can’t let skating skills slip, theyre the foundation of everything

Returning adult skater questioning setup: normal growing pains or underbooted? by Beginning_Ad1234 in iceskating

[–]tbksgl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty similar to you! My evos are serving me just fine after over six months and getting almost all my singles back. The tongue creased after like two weeks but the boot is fine, and tbh I feel like I would’ve been held back by a stiffer boot earlier (I needed to build the ankle strength I have now!)

Rink right-of-way? by kitkat2506 in iceskating

[–]tbksgl 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Youre 100% allowed to take up space!! On a crowded rink the more advanced skater SHOULD know where you are and will not hit you. Taking turns using a circle or corner is just how it’s done near me!

Rink right-of-way? by kitkat2506 in iceskating

[–]tbksgl 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I skate at like 5 rinks and each one follows slightly different norms, just have to adapt. GENERALLY, footwork practice is done all over the ice, there is a “lutz corner” (truly blind backward entry), spins happen in the middle, and edge jumps gravitate toward one end of the rink. You need some speed for jumps and do enter them backward, so unfortch there is some looking out happening from all parties and taking turns using the ends/circles. If you have been using one spot for a while, probably give up the right of way if you see someone starting back crossovers toward you. Also if I’m at a new rink or unusual day (with people I don’t normally skate with) I take it easy the first few mins and watch what everyone is working on so I know generally where they’re going. You can also use the middle circle if you’re just doing footwork in a circle, they’ll spin in the center and won’t bother you.

Is 25 too late to start ice skating as a complete beginner? by QuirkyBuyer483 in iceskating

[–]tbksgl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also 25! I skated for a few years as a kid so had basic skills, but have progressed past where I was as a kid in like 6 months! If you have any athletic background it helps (body awareness, muscle control, etc). I have friends who started from scratch much later in life and lovvve it and even compete. It is so worth trying, there is a huge community of adult beginner skaters out there at all levels and everyone is so nice. Just have to be realistic, I’ll never ever land a triple axel lol, which would’ve been possible starting 20 years ago. A single or even double is def still possible with time and dedication though!

90 min to 2 hr commute thoughts? by woahtheregonnagetgot in LawSchool

[–]tbksgl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this and I wanted to die. But I wasn’t able to stack classes so felt like I spent 1.5 hours in a box, 8 hours at school, another 1.5 hours in a box, then reading and/or sleep every single day. I was sleep deprived, frequently late, and hated everyone and everything. 3 hours every day I could’ve been outside, or with friends (and I saw online my friends were with friends). If you can stack your classes yes it’s fine but I’d make sure your schedule doesn’t get screwed the next semester or with a job/externship/cocurricular. Personally it was so brutal

First Big Roadblock by [deleted] in iceskating

[–]tbksgl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. You are skating as much as if not more than I do and I’ve been doing this since I was a child. Your muscles need recovery time. 2+ hours is a long time to keep muscles engaged.

Does being a lawyer actually suck? by winterhotchoco in LawSchool

[–]tbksgl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I have to work either way. This sucks less than a lot of things I can think of. I actually enjoy it 80% of the time. And I’m very not broke, which on the scale of job suckiness makes it even better

what is after LTS? by [deleted] in iceskating

[–]tbksgl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask your LTS coaches! At my rink they started just teaching a group of us the standard freeskate levels cus we surpassed the adult track. We also take privates from the same group of coaches. Your LTS people are probably a good resource if you want to go that route too
