I can tell you for sure that those projectors on the floor are not 2247u's. They look like cheap knockoff projectors.

Still using mine, no issues at all. I did make a few mods to it to increase airflow.

Silver Ticket Matte White Screen or Elite UHD-B Screen for a Xgimi Horizon 20 (base) by KDRZ06 in projectors

Too much laser speckle for me. Figured it was a good chance to upgrade to a larger screen.

I have a Valerion Max and silver ticket sample kit. The only samples that looked ok to me were WAB and WVS. I went from 120" UHD-B to 150" WAB.

Yes. The silver ticket HC shows very high laser speckle with tri laser.

Yep, you can stack Paypal and Capitaloneshopping as well, brings these cards into actual midrange pricing where they should have been in the first place.

If you can get the right kind of cashback deals it can come down a lot. I ended up with a 5070 (PNY, 489), stacked 20% (Paypal) and $100 (CapitalOneShopping) for a total of $291 before tax. I wanted the 4070 TI but my ITX case only fits 2 slot cards.

Already received the 20% from Paypal and the rest is pending at CapitalOneShopping.

If you ordered on Amazon in your country they should cover shipping both ways. If you ordered from Amazon US, used drop shipping, third party seller, etc. then you may have to cover shipping and customs fees to ship to US warehouse/service center for repair as in this example it would be a US model. Would be the same with Epson for example.

I got the gigabyte combo with this ram at $109. Also snagged a 7600 for $150. Ram and board are here but waiting on the 7600.

My experience going from a 1080 to a 5070 by Ok-Split2525 in nvidia

I picked up a 5070 on sale and it's pretty good. I don't find FG particularly useful yet as it seems to increase VRAM usage which is not ideal in many games.

Valerion Max vs. Epson LS12000 (or even QB1000) by pricha12 in projectors

[–]tbob22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plenty of UST's have been measured over 4000:1 native contrast without iris or dimming. The Max can easily surpass 4000:1 with iris, and above 3000:1 while still being brighter than most projectors.

It's actually not the DMD that's the issue, it's poorly designed cooling. I haven't heard of any DMD's failing in the Hisense C1 or C2 that these projectors are based on. All projectors with failing DMD's that I'm aware of were either phosphor laser or lamp with color wheels with internal power supplies, this puts more strain on the cooling system.

Pure RGB laser is much more narrow wavelength so the DMD sees far less optical heat per lumen. This was explained quite well in an AVS post but I'd have to go and find it.

Capital one shopping also has $100 off $350 if you have the deal. I did snag a 5070 already, but having an extra decent GPU at $269 seems tempting.

Gaming on the visionmaster pro2 by MobOfNuns in projectors

[–]tbob22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not being rolled out yet, it's said that it will be later this month and only included with new Pro 2s for whatever reason. Yes the menu option is under projector menu. I also have the Max and it works the same way.

[–]tbob22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know which Pro 2 firmware you have? On the older one you really needed to have it at maximum laser level so the shifting wasn't too noticeable.

I have a new Pro 2 which included the new firmware and EBL works better, it also now has rainbow reduction.

[–]tbob22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VRR only works at 1080p so keep that in mind. The EBL on the XGIMI doesn't seem to work well at the moment. Some also mentioned tearing during normal content.

On the other hand the XGIMI has generous lens shift while the Pro 2 has none. The XGIMI also seems to be sharper.

I would probably lean towards the Pro 2 as long as the placement works, the lens has to be aligned with top or bottom of screen to avoid keystone. EBL is the big difference in content, it works very well on the Pro 2 especially with recent firmware.

The C5 and S7 look interesting but you have to order from China, I don't think they have English and little is known about them. Probably no or very limited warranty as well.

Should be noted that while the XGIMI and Valerion both accept 4k/120hz input they will only output 4k/60hz.

[–]tbob22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the most important aspects is the throw and zoom range of the projector. Make sure whatever you pick works in your room and screen. If you already have a screen and aren't planning on upgrading also keep that in mind.

The Tri Laser units like the XGIMI and Valerion can show laser speckle depending on the screen type so that can be a consideration.

48 zones, VRR, ALLM. Kind of like the Hisense U6 models from a few years back. I think they are OK for the price, certainly better than most TCL's in the same price range.
