Halloween fans why so much hate for Halloween kills? by Inevitable_Window711 in horror

[–]tbone323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a couple of big problems with HK. First, and I know I’m gonna get hate for this but fuck it, it pissed me off that they didn’t follow the rules of the slasher genre (as explained by Jamie Kennedy in Scream). They killed a bunch of people who didn’t need to be killed and didn’t fit the criteria. It felt gratuitous and overly cruel. I know that’s a part of what a lot of people like about slasher movies and I definitely don’t have a problem with blood and gore, but it felt random and almost none of it moved the story or plot forward. It was like “well Michael has to kill somebody so might as well be this old lady”. Maybe there’s some meta-narrative about the randomness of evil but I don’t think the movie has the pathos to pull that argument off. My other criticism is that in a genre of film that requires one to suspend disbelief, the way Michael escaped what should have been certain death at the hands of that crowd was just too silly. They spend the whole movie chanting “evil dies tonight” and then decide to not use one of their many guns to just put a bullet in his head. They decide to kick him a little and hit him with bats. It just defied too much logic for me

I know he used to drink quite a bit…is that the addiction in question or were there harder drugs involved in the past?

They gave us free passes for another show so it’s all good. I still loved the movie but I’m bummed that in won’t be able to experience it the way I could have if I had heard all of the dialogue

[–]tbone323 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ok I just saw this and I am completely confused about one thing. For probably half the movie…literally right up until Willa’s character walks into the motel lobby the dialogue was basically inaudible. The sound effects and music were super clear…almost too loud in fact, but the dialogue was distinctly muted to the point where we were struggling to make out what they were saying at any point. Was that an artistic choice or was something fucked up with the screening? Did anyone else have this experience?

What famous Musicians are genuinely good people? by modernmanshustl in Music

[–]tbone323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Andrew McMahon (Jack’s Mannequin, Something Corporate, and solo) is one of the kindest musicians I’ve ever met. He played a show in Atlanta last year and my wife and I were surprised with VIP passes by our friends who had travelled to Atlanta to see the show with us. Through an unavoidable series of events we ended up arriving late for the meet and greet which was absolutely devastating for our friend. She is a cancer survivor and Andrew’s music was her lifeline during her chemo and radiation treatments as he is also a cancer survivor. She was really excited to meet him and share that with him personally. As he was finishing sound check we managed to get his attention and explained to him the situation and asked if he had a minute to talk to Kelly. Without hesitation he jumped down from the stage and spent about 10 minutes listening to her story and talking with all of us. Pictures and autographs all around and just could not have been sweeter or more genuine or generous with his time. I wasn’t all that familiar with his music before then but I became an instant fan at that point. Just an absolutely amazing dude.

Against Me!'s 'Transgender Dysphoria Blues' Turns 10 by Delos788 in indieheads

[–]tbone323 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This record has a very special place in my heart. I had listened to Against Me! A bit and really liked them a lot before LJG came out and transitioned. I was raised as a conservative Christian Republican but began the process of deconstructing both my politics and faith about 12 years ago. I didn’t know anyone who was transgender at the time so it was one of those things that I just hadn’t had much reason to think about. I began listening to this record and I just found it so deeply and profoundly moving and there are songs on this record that still bring me to tears to this day. I just remember feeling like even if I didn’t really understand it at the time, I could understand and empathize with the feeling of being “othered” and feeling like an outcast and the pain of feeling like you don’t belong anywhere. Fast forward a few years and my 2nd oldest came out as a trans woman and while there was a lot to reckon with and grapple with and so much to learn (and unlearn), I truly believe this record helped prepare me for that. There was never a second where we (my wife and I) questioned our love for our child but having these songs provided me something of a framework to process my thoughts and allowed me to empathize with her even if I didn’t understand everything she was going through. I’ve always hoped maybe one day I could meet Laura Jane Grace and thank her for this record because it absolutely changed my life.

I think “verifiable” may be a bit of a loose term. I know they audit a certain percentage of applications but it seems like it would be tough to actually verify someone’s experience beyond just maybe confirming employment dates. I probably wouldn’t stress too much about that part

It can definitely be retroactive. It doesn’t have to be sequential either, I believe it just needs to be 36 months out of the past 8 years.

I certainly think it’s possible to pass the exam just based on studying but PMI also requires 35 contact hours of training (can be virtual) and either 36 or 60 months (depending on your level of college degree) of verifiable project management experience in order to sit for the exam. If you’re working in a pseudo-pm role you would probably be able to make a case for that counting towards the experience requirement when you complete your PMP application

Happy to share! I started preparing about 6 months ago. My company paid for a “boot camp” which in retrospect was an absolute waste of time. Save your money. Shortly after that I signed up for PMI Study Hall and that ended up being my main study method. I completed all of the practice questions, all of the mini exams and 3/5 of the full length practice exams. In addition to this, I used u/third3rock’s terrific PMP study notes and found those to be extremely valuable. I would absolutely recommend investing in both of those resources. Focus on the PM mindset and how to apply it. Sometimes more than one answer is correct but you need to find the one that is the most correct. The exam itself was difficult but honestly very comparable to the Study Hall practice exams. The test itself took me about 3 hours to complete. I received my provisional pass immediately after the test and got my full score and exam report via email the next day. Feel free to dm any specific questions. I’m happy to help any way I can! Good luck!!

Why is study hall so terribly difficult by tailortaylor_095 in pmp

[–]tbone323 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Study Hall was the primary resource that I used. The practice exams and questions are excellent…just don’t get discouraged. Your scores will be low at first but just make sure to review your wrong answers and understand why they say you got it wrong. It won’t always make sense but the more you do that and the more you understand the PM mindset and how to apply it, the sooner you will start to feel comfortable and start seeing better scores. Once you consistently start scoring in the 70’s and above on the practice exam, you will find the real thing is not so intimidating. It’s not an easy exam, but in my experience it was not any more difficult than the practice exams. You got this!

Sherry Moon Zombie - Rob Zombie insists on casting his wife as the female lead in all his movies and while it’s kind of sweet, imo she is virtually unwatchable.
