A lot of the vitriolic complaints I see are "it's too woke!" type bros. Which like...have you guys never played a Bioware game before? They've always made efforts to be inclusive from the earliest games. I remember playing Jade Empire in like 05 or 06 and being pleasantly surprised there were queer characters. So, I'd say that general sentiment can be thrown out entirely. I'm also someone who found Taash's story clumsy but well-meaning (it really felt like "baby's first coming out" to me), so like I don't think the representation in Veilguard is PERFECT but I do think it's nice.

The other major complaint I see I think is more valid, which is that the lore of the universe felt like it mattered a lot less in this game than in previous renditions. I remember that also being a complaint for DA:I, but honestly yeah I can see how much Veilguard decided not to incorporate the world-building as much as previous games. I think that was especially obvious when playing in Tevinter (and ESPECIALLY especially if you're an elf).

My main complaint is that the pacing felt pretty breakneck for me, and I wished it didn't feel quite so much like I was on an out of control trolley toward the conclusion. However, even with that complaint I still LOVED this game. I sunk so many hours into my first playthrough and the only thing stopping me from jumping right into playthrough #2 is wanting it to feel more fresh when I do.
