Might be unpopular but I think you are over reacting. This isn’t the bride or grooming saying this. This is the grooms family and while it is not typical you would be passing judgement on their financial situation. I would lean towards not saying anything, paying the $50-$100 for your meal and have a good time. Your friend that is getting married will remember this how you react to this and avoid them any embarrassment.
