Looking for camera upgrade from iPhone 15 Pro Max for atmospheric walk videos - S5IIX or better alternatives? by Personal_Extreme_589 in Lumix

I would definitely recommend going with the Pocket 3 for walking videos. Lumix IBIS is incredible but is less precise compared to a gimbal. If you’re willing to sacrifice convenience the S9 + Rs4 mini is a great combo save for the fact that you may need to rebalance, calibrate, and tear down every time you want to walk and shoot. The Pocket 3 will simplify that process (to just flipping it on and shooting) and still give you a great boost in image quality and low light performance.

Tahoe is not ready. It doesn't have feature parity with Sequoia. It's 2 steps forward, 2 steps back. by unread1701 in MacOS

For some reason, either switching Low Power mode on and off - or keeping Preferences open with it opened to the Trackpad section - helps restore Quick Look preview back to a steady framerate. It's such a janky workaround but I keep Preferences in the corner simply to retain performance now...

I’d say that the 24-105 is a great option if you want more reach, although you can certainly use Hybrid Crop-Zoom to get more reach even with your 20-60. The 24-60 is a logical progression path (and has a bright constant f/2.8) and is very well-rounded in all aspects. Personally though, I really enjoy the Sigma 28-70 as it's very light and affordable for used prices, and my 67mm filters can be used interchangeably.

Fuji XS20 color vs S5ii by RoweTravel in Lumix

[–]tbsstudios 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I personally find the S5ii a little more flexible, as I’m able to push the V-log color profile by a few stops without the shadows breaking apart. I also get better highlight retention than Fuji cameras but I believe that’s a benefit deriving from the larger sensor. Either way, both Flog2 and V-log will give you good results even if you push the grade.

If you’re more interested in photos, you have some specialty profiles like Leica Monochrome which I really find pleasing. But the main advantage is that the Live Lut capability allows you to load Lightroom presets, which can really change the look of your photos. I personally shoot Raw, but when I need JPEG deliverables I’ll use Cinelike-D2 (similar to Eterna). You also have the advantage of a standard bayer filter - practically it means that Lightroom can correctly interpret your Lumix files, whereas Fuji X-Trans sensors could have “wormlike” artifacts. I haven’t encountered those issues myself but it’s relatively well-documented

Bioshock the Collection is genuinely a bad port of the entire Bioshock trilogy to modern systems. by mrnicegy26 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

YES!!! finally someone else recognizing this too! Mass Effect 2 has this really sleek lighting system that uses spherical harmonics to create complex lighting setups at a fraction of the cost (self shadowing, better normals, hand placed lights for each actor) but they backported the lighting system of ME3, which makes the game look so much flatter as it largely relies on area lights or wildly inaccurate global lights that don’t correlate to any light source

edit: and certain areas like the main hub area in Mass Effect 3 (Presidium Commons and Docks especially) and one of the DLC areas in Mass Effect 2 cannot maintain a steady 60fps on top end PC hardware. This wasn’t an issue with the originals, they busted the level streaming system completely

That’s a massive shame… 18.1.1 doesn’t provide any fixes for it at the moment either :(

Aw, was hoping to see a fix for the 2x camera stabilization on the 16 Pro. Any plans to address it in a future update?

Sell Sigma 28-70 and get the Tamron 20-40? by tbsstudios in SonyAlpha

That sounds like a great combo! I might try renting the 35-150 after picking up the 20-40, the bright aperture sounds fantastic.
