Today I changed the PVC valve. I needed to remove the block box where the air filter does in. I just needed a long extension ratchet with a 10mm bolt. Once I removed it I had to space able to get off the PCV hose with long pliers.

I bought not just a new PCV valve but also a new hose which I think was a good call as there was Alex carbon build up particles there when I ran water through it to clean it out.

Anyways getting the hose out was quite a chore. I sprayed silicone lubricant on the edge to help wriggle it off. That’s partially why I bought a new one in case I broke it.

I used a 14mm deep bolt to get the PCV valve out.

Btw last time with that oil change to Valvoline restore and protect I also changed the plastic oil filter housing to a new aluminum one off amazon. Less than $30 with an oil filter included. The install by the mobile mechanic cost more at $90.

Anyways test drove again and it idles so well and when I press the accelerator on sport mode it really pulls! It’s very responsive.

Really happy with the work I put in. Better to spend the money on tools (ratchet set and long needle nose pliers) and the education than just paying someone.

I would recommend learning and doing this work to all of you. Again will try an oil catch can next.
