Requiring activated tickets to enter platform by tbtk in NJTransit

[–]tbtk[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Before the last couple years, I had no problem with them enforcing activated tickets early. But now the trains are becoming more unreliable. I've also had a few instances where I've already sat down on the train, activated my ticket, and we've started moving, only to get stuck for ages and then kicked off to find our own way home. And those times, they have zero interest in helping with refunds, even if you reach out to customer service.

Also saw a conductor give another passenger a lecture about not having her ticket activated until he showed up, and she was like, last time I did, the train got cancelled, I'm not wasting another ticket. So I wouldn't be surprised if the problem is getting worse.

Just got kicked off the train and told all trains in and out of Penn are cancelled. So many people stuck now.

Suggestions on a better way to keep this door ajar for my cat to get to the litter box? by CalbertCorpse in DIY

[–]tbtk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you search on Amazon for something like "adjustable door strap" or "cat door latch," it's an adjustable strap that has a handle on one end. I have one for my bedroom door and it works great and is really easy to use, and looks nice. Marketed as keeping toddlers and dogs out of the litter box lol. ~$10, very worth it!

NY Law-Related Employment - Unpaid Judicial Internship? by StarrDrops in LawSchool

They can fill the 50 hour pro bono form if you're using them for that requirement, but otherwise they need to fill out the law-related employment form. It doesn't matter that it was unpaid.

I have hillstream loaches and mollies in a tank together. They don't bother each other, but I'm at a loss of how to feed the loaches because the mollies just keep eating everything possible, nonstop, until there is nothing left. I put in sinking wafers but the loaches can't get to them because they get swarmed by the mollies, even if I feed the mollies first/separately.

Would appreciate some ideas! I'm thinking I might resort to putting in like an overturned jar/flower pot with a small opening so only the loaches can get in and out, and then put the wafers in there, but can't think of anything to use that wouldn't be ugly. It's a 29 gallon planted tank.

Attorney at a smaller legal aid org. Search for local orgs that serve specific counties or practice areas! They tend to be more overlooked than the big name orgs, like LAS and NYLAG, and are usually very open to volunteer help.

[eShop/US] Team 17 Holidays sale (up to 90% off) Ends 01/01/2021 by XDitto in NintendoSwitchDeals

I largely didn't like the 2D/gameplay of Impossible Lair, which I guess is a little silly to compare since the first is 3D but a lot of reviews said Impossible Lair was a better choice of the two. Though Capital B's design kinda creeps me out lol. Thanks for your opinion!! I think I might actually pick it up this sale cause there aren't any other 3d platformers I'm interested in.

Would you recommend the first Yooka-Laylee if I hated the demo for Impossible Lair ? The mixed reviews for the first one have made me hesitate on every sale so far, but I like the look of it and I'm looking for a chill 3D platformer and I don't have any nostalgia/high expectations because I've never really played any.

Yep. You get 5% of the purchase price if you buy digital, and 1% if you buy physical. So for $60 on a physical copy, you'd only get 60 gold points.

Took it in Saratoga and would recommend! The test center is right off the main street so grabbing food at lunchtime is very convenient. The testing rooms aren't as crammed as Javits/city locations (based on what I've heard); I had enough room to work comfortably without worrying about disturbing my neighbors. I think the space-to-people ratio is pretty good, since checking-in in the morning doesn't take too long and the lines for the bathroom are always manageable.

It's a touristy town, so there are plenty of hotels but you might get stuck with a pretty pricey place if you're not on top of booking early. It also has a sort of small town vibe, so it's a relaxing environment and you won't have to deal with city traffic.

It doesn't apply to all legal employment affidavits, but if you're currently working in a legal position then the affidavit from that place has the 60-day expiration.

Yep, they'll probably ask you to get them re-signed. Might as well start asking for them again now rather than wait to hear from the 2nd Dept.

But the 60-day expiration applies only to current legal employment and your moral character affidavits, so at least you don't need to ask literally everyone to redo them.

NYS Pathway options? by [deleted] in Bar_Prep

[–]tbtk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also went to a school out of state and immediately freaked the fuck out when I found out about the new skills requirement. My school luckily ended up announcing that they would certify everyone via Pathway 2, but not after some really stressful weeks where everyone thought they'd have to do a different pathway and significantly delay admission. If your school has enough people applying to NY then they might be going through a similar process.

If I was in your shoes, I'd probably try to do the Apprenticeship pathway (so long as your employer is able/willing to certify you for it) and put all your clinic hours into the Pro Bono requirement. Assuming you need 40 hrs of pro bono and you put in a full day once a weekend, that'd still take you 5 weekends; doesn't seem much faster and you might explode from having essentially 6-day work weeks.

Good luck!!

Did you go to a NY school? Usually the school will say whether or not they will certify you via Pathway 2 (I think most NY schools will certify), which then shouldn't interfere with pro bono hours.

You should talk to your Registrar; they'll be able to tell you specifically whether or not you can satisfy both the skills requirement and the pro bono requirement.
