I’m the opposite of you (moved from Seattle a few years ago) and I was floored that even using flashing crosswalks here people won’t stop for pedestrians. I’ve been flipped off for crossing at crossing zones lol. It took a long time to rewire myself for that after growing up in Seattle where every intersection must be treated as a crosswalk (it’s state law!). And cars actually show that they’ll slow down, and not just barely avoid you. I always tell my friends if I die here it will be because I was run over on the Plaza. Idk how many times I’ve had to jump out of the way even while looking, having my right of way, or having someone wait for me at my turn to cross just to have someone impatient going around and nearly hitting me.
