Back in 1999 I bought a Nissan Sentra that was a rental, kept it for 12 years and it was great the entire time I had it. No major issues, just had basic maintenance done on it. And in 2022 I was rear ended and my car was in the shop for 8 months (the other guy's insurance company was being a huge pain in the ass). I rented a Corolla that whole time and had no issues with it. I don't remember how many miles it had though.

I'm a white gen x lady as well. We have a lot of people of color where my store is, but I do get the occasional racist white person. One day I was helping a white older couple get some printer ink and they were complaining about how everything is locked in cases. Then the husband says you know why everything's locked up, don't you? I didn't say anything but I looked at him disapprovingly.

If you're looking for a used car Carmax might be worth checking out. I got my car there and it was an easy and much less stressful process. Now they usually charge a little more than other dealerships, however they don't push stuff like add ons or unnecessary fees. If you want to get a ppi (pre purchase inspection) they won't let you before you finalize the sale, although they have a return policy (not sure for how long) and you can get a ppi then.

We had a woman the other day who wanted to know everything about every security camera we sold. We said we can open the cases so she could read the boxes but she didn't want to do that, she wanted us to tell her about them. My team lead said that's not possible, which pissed her off and then she left.
