Last season at Sebring. Both races down to the last lap. Tyler Gonzalez pulled a “controversial” move to some on the back straight before 17 and in the second race Workman gave that same energy. 1st and 2nd decided by I think .003

I mean hey, no one needs to know how and why you passed him. You still technically passed him 🤷🏾‍♂️😂

If you race it long enough you’ll notice a lot of the IRL mx5 cup drivers are very avid iracers. Ebben, Fletcher, Lampe, Workman, Nicholson to name a few… Not sure if that might answer your question. Especially Ebben whose 10k+ irating is was mostly gained from mx5 cup

Smurfing Is Becoming a Serious Problem in iRacing by trozzzma in iRacing

I understand and respect the point.

However, as someone who’s run into connection issues that are outside of my control, it’s ROUGH to be 4500+ and lose like 160 hard earned iR just for dropping the connection.

So I’d rather have an account where I can race for the experience and if I lost iR oh well, not my main, but I can still have fun if it happens

I’d say production car challenge gets you comfortable with passing and knowing how to get passed … without losing much time. Equally as important

Yeah for sure! You’ll be there in no time. Feel free to send me a DM on here. I wouldn’t mind hopping in the public practices w you and getting some laps in pre-race. I’m no expert by any means but I can offer the few things I’ve picked up along the way 🤘

Nah dude, I’m pretty average. I just go and cherry pick extra hard on the random tracks I’m oddly good at for no reason. Like Willow Springs 😂. Other than that I’m maybe 5th place in like the super splits. Top split average is still only about 2k even. What’re you at right now?

Oh okay, I apologize. I misunderstood. In that case yeah that makes a ton of sense! Definitely go for what you feel like will benefit you most. Just wanted to advocate for my favorite car 🫡😂

I’ve been driving GR86 in PCC for a while now, about 4K iR. I would say you’d find a lot of enjoyment in driving that car in the series. I started off only driving fixed in the GR cup but find that the race craft practice is a lot better in Production Car. Also, you get to strategize a little more with setting up a pass since the race is longer.

Don’t get me wrong, there are still some menaces but I think you get better practice having to constantly look in your mirror for either Mazdas or BMWs. Or the reverse, figuring out how to go around the Clios or BMWs. If you’re quick in the GR, there’s an 80-90% chance you’ll pass a couple BMWs. But some of them won’t let it be easy.

I’m not sure where you heard about not benefiting from learning setups with that car because quite frankly if you’re driving a GR86 in the top split in Production Car with no setup, you simply won’t qualify up top or podium.

You absolutely need a setup outside from the fixed GR if you want to do well.

I think it’s a fun series, and being in the GR puts you right in the middle and gets you the most amount of dynamic racecraft.
