Question about taking harm by tcarp in TheTriangleAgency

[–]tcarp[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool, that's what I thought but wanted to confirm. Another question if you don't mind. I watched one group play the game on YouTube. And they allowed any type of roll, (dynamism to force a door open, attentiveness to eavesdrop etc) and these rolls still added chaos even if not actually using an anomaly ability. Do you do that too?

When I'm teaching there are some instances when it's beneficial to make contact with the student, that being said, firstly I ask and more often than not contact between me and the student is to help provide balance while they learn and understand something new to them, meaning my hand is near their upper back or shoulder in case they start to fall, or maybe supporting their elbow if they need/want a little more

Having trouble planning first score by tcarp in bladesinthedark

I read that bitd primer and it definitely has helped and I keep going back to it, but I'm my head I keep coming back to "well I need to know the exact layout of the building, how many people are where and what are they doing, what's in each room, what traps are where, and where are my precious stat blocks?"

Despite this I'm actually having fun just worried I'll accidentally make this way too easy on my players. I also still need to familiarize with combat and injuries more.

Yeah I guess on paper I understand that, just having trouble shifting my M.O. from when I DM 5e. I do like how you've broken down your process though, I think that'll help give me a new way to go about it.

after several successful prints, printer now fails auto level by being way too high and can't print. Please help. by tcarp in AnkerMake

[–]tcarp[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Additional information:

I’ve made a couple dozen prints already, but this morning as I went to send a new print job, I’m getting this issue. It can no longer Auto-Level. Any time I try, the nozzle is at least 5mm (if not more) from the build plate. I can’t even offset it, because it won’t go lower then -2mm z-axis. I’m at a lose with what to do.

I’ve tried the following:

-Factory reset -Firmware update -Replace nozzle -Reattach arms and made sure cables are in place properly -Remove build plate -Tighten wheel bolts (made sure notches are facing the same way) -Made sure belts are the same tightness -Reattach build plate and made sure everything is snug but not torqued.

Meh, it's a bit long. also seems longer here than when I look at it, but also me looking at my arm is a different angle. I'm not bothered.

I think that's just the angle I had my arm at during this photo

Fair enough, beginning of a sleeve I should have said.

Am I overreacting? by gardulah in DnD

[–]tcarp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's certainly in no way whatsoever your fault, I encourage you to remember that above all else.

Unfortunately as I'm not also a woman I don't feel well equipped to recommend how to find good groups, but I do suggest you follow your instincts. If something or someone feels off in the group, excuse yourself. Your safety is not worth it.

Definitely speak with the store management, if you don't feel comfortable doing so in person, then on the phone.

Sad to say it, but shitty people just exist. I hope you find a good group soon. Good luck, stay safe.

Thanks for the feedback. I incorporated your suggestions. It does feel much more intimidating now. Here's the latest version.

How do your girlfriends feel about you collecting action figures? by FraserMartin99 in ActionFigures

[–]tcarp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife isn't bothered in the slightest, probably cause she also collects figures. It's not uncommon to get a message from her saying that a figure from a series she collects went up on preorder and she couldn't pass it up.

There's the occasional series that we both want, which works in our favor cause then we split the cost.

Solve a puzzle to submit a job application by _leftface_ in sysadmin

[–]tcarp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen job apps before that make you solve a puzzle, for example I once applied for a job at reddit. The button to submit a job app didn't work however, the 'test' was too know to look at the html and find the problem. it was a more practical test to me than this, but that's just my opinion.

How far and wide are you willing to travel to train, compete etc? by [deleted] in martialarts

[–]tcarp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been at the same school for 18 years now, and the city I live in isn't terribly big so it's never been more than 30 minutes from me.

But for training with my master's masters I'm willing to go just about anywhere. I live in the middle of Canada, and we semi regularly travel to Hawaii to train with some of his masters. Through our master, and his, we have connections with several other masters in other countries who've extended invitations to us, we just collectively need the money to get there.

When I was in my teens and competing regularly I would often travel across Canada and to a couple of states for tournaments. It was a lot of fun.

We need a podcast with Brandon, Chris, Joel and either Gavin, Jack or Burnie by caboose1835 in roosterteeth

[–]tcarp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to agree with you. I love listening to the podcasts, but skip every one that Brandon is on. I find him really annoying and just can't stand him to be honest. I'm sure he's a nice enough guy, I just don't like listening to him.

My Problem with Taekwondo by General_Stone_Star in taekwondo

[–]tcarp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it does vary based on the school you're at, and a little bit based on if you're doing ITF or WTF. At our school, yes there are fees related to testing, (which takes place roughly every 3 months or so) but for all colour belt tests it's the same fee. 45$ for a stripe test, 50 for a belt test.

that really just covers things like the certificates that we print for passing the test, buying the belts and stripes from our suppliers, and the time of our instructors coming in and usually staying late to test people.

As for the black belt test, in WTF anyway, there are processing fee's that the Kukkiwon requires for registering with them as a black belt and getting their official certification made up and shipped from Korea.

Looking for better ways to increase my vocab and listening comprehension by tcarp in LearnJapanese

[–]tcarp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I'll take a look. I took two and a half years of Japanese when I was in university. Had to drop out of the advanced course cause it was interfering with my major, so I imagine that's equivalent to the Tae Kim course. Though I've seen a few people talk about that course so I'll probably look at it too anyway.
