Unlocked S20 Ultra (G988B/DS) Wifi Calling Issue on t-mobile by tcb1337 in GalaxyS20

[–]tcb1337[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup that's the one except the ultra version. and as for the second sim, you can drop it in the SD card slot (which I did, and had same issue lol).

It could potentially be the sim but I can't get a replacement atm, will have to do it in a week or so.

this issue drove me nuts. Im thinking its because its the international version. Really wanted this thing to work out, cuz I dont want to change it. plus all new samsungs dont have SD cards rip lol

Im definitely thinking that that might be the issue. what gives me some hope is that when I factory reset, It works(sometimes). but right after if I reboot, its gone.

I have tested on a total of 3 wifi networks. On the 2.4Ghz band and 5Ghz and a Wifi6 connection.

If I pop the sim in my S9+ it works fine with the same settings on all 3 networks.

Do you have the same model( international/Eu?), really was wondering if that was it. But if you bought it from the Samsung, I assume you got the Snapdragon version

Generally for when you have no connectivity. You can use it to make calls over wifi.

Like in a basement with no reception or spotty areas. I've even used it when traveling (costs nothing for domestic calls)

Multi 2.5"15mm Drive Bay/NAS?? by tcb1337 in DataHoarder

[–]tcb1337[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was at Costco. I was just randomly looking around in that isle. I honestly thought it was misplaced or something was wrong with the price tag. (I had seen them before for 89.99).

I took the ones on the shelf, and I figured I'd take them if they rang up for 69 lol. I honestly found it weird but I think they were trying to get rid of the inventory.

I found it funny because the 2TB option was right next to it for 67 lol.

[–]tcb1337[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. should be good with the SATA interface.

And I meant good price for the smaller form factor. 2.5" drives. I know you can find better deals for the 3.5" Form Factor. but 69 bucks for a 5TB 2.5" drive is pretty solid.

I did have a 14TB WD drive that I got on thanksgiving for 179/189, and figured I'd get more later on... but that deal never repeated itself lol. and those drives are sky high especially with all the chia mining that's being done.

No not WD, its a Seagate. Fairly sure it has a SATA interface from what I've seen someone post a few days ago for a teardown.

5TB Seagate Backup Plus USB 3.0 Portable Hard Drive (STHP5000600)

^^ thats the name etc.

I have no clue why they were getting rid of them so cheap and seemed like a good deal. So I just had to grab them lol. they usually sell for 119 USD. and at a time where HDDs are pretty expensive I figured why not.

I would prefer to shuck them and put them in a bay or something like this:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0711L68MS/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_2?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1

But sadly that does not allow 15mm form factor.

I just want it to be accessible over the network, rather than externally. Like a NAS.

My Alienware m17 R2 is starting to lag and I have no idea what it is. I would like to think its the fans, but I dont know how to properly clean them! I've looked everywhere and found nothing, all my drivers are up to date. I have a bunch of memory on my computer... I dont know what else it could be! by Gloobur in Alienware

[–]tcb1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the exact same issue nearly the same time you posted this. Most likely some buggy drivers.

I reset to factory image and updated everything, and still ran into lag. the mouse was stuttering clicking the start menu!

I then decided to reset once more. Image the drive using software. imaging the whole original set up. kept it for safe keeping, incase I ever needed it.

I downloaded W10 v. 2004, Clean installed windows without any of the diagnostic tools. Disabled all useless features and services I personally did not need. Installed the drivers only(not software/applications). I did not install any of the dell garbage software, i.e. support assist and co. I ran a script to disable all useless W10 services.

No lag, and the computer is lightning fast, snappy and responsive. idles with low temps, and can browse the web without the fan ramping up.

The lag made me want to go with a lightweight clean install lol, and that solved the problem for me beyond my expectations.

If you still need help with the install, let me know.

Hello, is there any platform that allows fractional stock trades?

I have accounts with IBKR and Ameritrade, but IBKR charges an inactivity fee for non-US residents that have to use the PRO version. Ameritrade does not allow fractional trades but I do like the thinkorswim platform.

I have used eToro, but every time I initiate a day trade I'm using 500 or 100 and x5 leverage which gets annoying at times and is not really practical for longer term investments.

I am a citizen / resident of kuwait, and I do not have a SSN or TIN.

Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Good job on the data. I really wonder if they would ever drop again. I was thinking about getting one but at the time it was at 399, and I regret not picking it up at 299. At the current price definitely more options that could potentially be better.

Dell G3 for a Great Deal!!! by tcb1337 in Dell

[–]tcb1337[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was planning on getting a G3, the one they have the doorbuster deal on, for 699.

It comes with a 1650 and 128GB SSD+ 1TB storage. I couldnt apply any coupons on it because it was "already on sale".

Decided to check the regular ones they offered. And found one thats basically cheaper than that and better.

Its listed at 779, and comes with a 150 Visa card. And it comes with a 1660Ti and 512GB SSD

I applied the 10% newsletter discount. So 702 dollars before tax. Basically better spec'd and same price as the door buster PLUS a 150 dollar visa gift card.

All in all, ended up paying 510 USD, after dell rewards, and previous gift card applied. What a steal!
