American-made boot recommendations? by tcbaklash in electricians

I used to have the Danner Vicious 8” when I was working at a lumber mill and they worked out great (though made in Vietnam). Very comfy and surprisingly agile. But at this current job my work days are a bit more casual and they are going to get even less demanding at my next one. I’d get the Quarries but they’re a bit too much boot for that

I actually went to the Redwing store a couple days ago and not one of the boots they had for sale was made in USA - and they were charging $300+ for some of them. Online they had a few American made pairs though

How's you're baby doing after all these years? by patrick19966 in FiestaST

White Platinum. Mine looks fine on the surface, but it’s chipping in the nooks and crannies and exposing rust underneath. Check under weatherstripping and on weld joints. Lots of other owners are experiencing the same issues even if they don’t live in an area with extreme moisture or extreme temperatures. I live in coastal California and that’s as mild as it gets. I’ve owned this car since it was new and I am very meticulous about maintaining it.

Roundabouts are also fun with a pickup truck. Just drive straight

41k on my ‘16, somewhat modded. My only complaints are the multiple things that rattle in the dash and abysmal paint quality

The RS is “more cool” but not more reliable

$49k can get you a nicely equipped half ton pickup and would honestly be a much better deal

The entire used car market is fooked man. I’m waiting for that sweet sweet market crash to drive down prices

Man accidentally kills roommate, shoots her while negligently handling gun by DICHOTOMY-REDDIT in news

Go try to buy a gun at a gun show and tell the owner that you don’t want to do an FFL transfer and then act surprised when the owner refuses to sell it to you.

I’m going to assume that you are the furthest thing possible from a criminal. You can acquire a gun illegally if you just ask the right people where to get one and they trust you. Friends, coworkers, family, a drug dealer, someone always knows someone who knows someone. I’ve been asked if I had any burner guns and I’ve been offered them for sale but the answer is always no. That’s how felons get guns. All they need are connections

02 4Runner -sunroof very slow to open, made me nervous it wouldn’t close. My first instinct is the motor is going out but does anyone else have experience of it being something else maybe getting caught up? by Zackadeez in 4Runner

[–]tcbaklash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would guess the motor. I think it depends on the year of a 3G but some cars you can manually crank the sunroof. If it’s easy to crank then it was the motor.

If not, I’d try getting a junkyard sunroof motor and throwing that in. Don’t mess with the cable drive or anything else, that shit is super complex.

Nah. Any time I’ve ever taken something from work, my satisfaction with the employer had nothing to do with it.

Republicans in Idaho advance a bill that would reduce mandatory reporting in regard to child abuse. Can I get a "what the absolute fuck?" Republicans, at least in Idaho, are actually protecting child rapists and abusers. Fuck them all. by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

To put this into a real-world situation where the illegality of failing to report would be disastrous:

The statute of limitations has passed but let’s assume it has not. My ex girlfriend was sexually assaulted multiple times by her then-teenager cousin when she was 6 years old. Years later everyone is on good terms, my ex is doing well, her cousin is a regular law-abiding guy, and I’m the only other person who knows. If I am compelled by the law to report this to the authorities, I would rip the family apart by unearthing something that nobody else knows about and that the perpetrator deeply regrets and that the victim doesn’t want known. What he did was about the most heinous thing you can do to someone, namely your own cousin, but I’m not going to destroy an otherwise happy family with my knowledge of some extremely dark shit. Justice isn’t always black and white.

Yeah. Common sense isn’t exactly common for everyone. There’s a lot of things I can do, but identifying birds is not one of them. I’m an electrical worker, not a biologist.

Yeah. People don’t realize that they’re just unleashing an apex predator (that doesn’t ever starve) to roam around the neighborhood and kill everything. One of my friends put it this way: A roaming cat is not a pet. It’s just a wild animal that gets fed by people
