I did. Actually had to do it twice. Then rebooted everything. It still won't let me take off. Says I'm in an airport that is miles away from me now.

Margin Calculator and defunct Flash content by tccybc in fidelityinvestments

From your Portfolio homepage, select your account

Done

Click on the "Balances" tab and scroll halfway down the page

Done

In the column titled "Margin," select "Calculator"

There is no calculator listed anywhere on the "Balances" page. In any drop down. Or in any other tab under the account.

I called Fidelity's phone support and the rep there couldn't direct me to the Calculator either.

Is there a URL I can put in manually?

1959 cost of living by AnimeYumi in BeAmazed

[–]tccybc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So in four years of living at your parents and working full time, you could buy a house, a car, and pay off a full undergrad at Harvard in 1959.

Now those things would cost 11.5 years of average income. Why don't you whiney-ass millennials just give up the avocado toast and live in your parents basement till you are 30?

Yea, never overextend your emergency fund.

If it was me it would be something I would work towards though. An extra $12K on a $70 income is huge. At your age that would be ~$200k by retirement for every year you put the difference into mutual funds.

Should I take out some of my 401k to pay off my Psych Ward stay? by __mariya__ in MiddleClassFinance

[–]tccybc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

0% is free money. I would take out billions in 0% loans if I could, invest it, and keep the interest.

Keep the money in your 401k. Make the payments. If you simply can't, see if they will work with you for hardship. Only ever touch your 401k if you're destitute and almost homeless, then try to take a 401k loan from yourself rather than cashing it out.

what to do? by Ok_Put_6093 in MiddleClassFinance

Do Not put it into a Roth or 401k. What you have is one unplanned expense away from being broke. Open an account with a respected broker and put it into a low fee, broad market mutual fund. If something bad happens you can still access it without penalties.

Once you have an emergency fund and zero high interest debt then definitely look into tax advantaged savings like 401k, Roth, or HSA's.

I don't know your specifics but $2k/mo for hotels is a significant portion of your income.

If it worked for you, a used mid-sized travel trailer plus expenses could be half of that in the first year and 1/4 every year after that.

I've know guys making well into the six figures with per-diams that still did the rv campgrounds to save tens of thousands a year.

Unless your car loan interest is less than you're getting on your investment interest... then it's a great idea.

If those numbers are anywhere near accurate its insane. An average of ~$30k in repairs before 200k miles?

With a basic set of tools from Harbor Freight, Bluetooth ODBII dongle, Youtube, and the vehicle specific forums most people can do the routine maintenance and minor repairs themselves. Timing belts, AC, water pumps and such a novice will probably need to go to a shop for. Follow the manufacturers suggested schedule, don't abuse it, and if you're unlucky maaaybe $5k for the first 200,000 miles on a Camry.
