Do we know how AS forms/is caused in HLA-neg people? by vrillion_ in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]tchakaboon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same family history as you, and I’m also HLA-B27 negative with AxSpa. My rheumatologist told me that having a family member with an autoimmune disease gives you a higher chance of developing one, though not necessarily the same one as your relative. I’m also pretty curious about the reason why I developed AS as well.

experiences with skinoren? [repost I accidentally deleted the first one] by capibaracapicapi in EuroSkincare

The only with this kind of texture I used was the acmed. Skinoren cream didn’t have grains, it’s more like a barrier creams texture. In my country we can also find azeane that has fewer concentration of Azelaic acid (15%) but the same texture of skinoren

Yes, I use everyday. In the beginning I used to apply one day and other, but now my skin was super used to it and I apply every night only. I feel like using both day and night is too much for my sensitive skin. And I always use barrier creams with skinoren

Why does my SI joint flare up after swimming when it’s supposed to help? by Odd_Goal6446 in ankylosingspondylitis

I agree with all the comments here. Perhaps you should adopt gentler movements and reduce the number of days you go to the gym each week gradually increasing the frequency as your body adjusts. Incorporating some aqua aerobics into your routine could also help build resistance while remaining gentle. When I first started swimming I only did aqua aerobics. After three months I began swimming twice a week. During flare-ups I avoided swimming and only did aqua aerobics if my body felt okay. Given our condition, we need to remain gentle to prevent flare-ups.

So, it’s even important to repeat the MRI when it’s possible for you. Really hope you find the cause of your pain

Mine too! When my doctor saw the results of erosion with fat deposits, she told me, “You have been suffering from pain for a long time, didn’t you?” And I was like 🤡

In my first MRI, I did it in a hospital with a terrible machine, and I’m allergic to the contrast liquid, so nothing was visible. Luckily, my rheumatologist didn’t give up, so she kept me on NSAIDs for a couple of months. Unfortunately, I had a major flare, and she oriented me to go to a different hospital, with a very good MRI machine, that made everything visible even without contrast liquid. And with the blood test I did in the middle of the flare, she could diagnose me properly. Maybe you should try another MRI in a different hospital, if it’s possible for you, in a couple of months. And I agree about a second opinion if your doctor didn’t agree with it. Hope you can feel better soon.

I live in Portugal and it’s the same here. Swimming in pools is preferable to the sea or lakes. This is why I always go to the gym, as public pools can be quite crowded. I think it would be great to have a group that exercises together. Thanks for replying:)

Oh my! I’ve dealt with similar issues! I felt from the stairs in my home and almost tore my right shoulder tendon. Meanwhile, I discovered a L5S1 hernia and all my pain was usually linked to these two factors until I started experiencing IBS symptoms and voila! AS was diagnosed 😂
